This historic spot which, today, is a pleasant riverside park, is thought to be the place where, in 1838, members of the Cherokee Nation waded across the river from their homeland during, what has been called. the "Trail of Tears". It also marks the spot where the city of Chattanooga was established in 1839, when the first American settlers changed the name from Ross's Landing to Chattanooga. Look out for the very interesting statue "Cherokee" at the junction of Chestnut Street and Riverfront Parkway.

One of Chattanooga's best spots to enjoy the riverfront. Just a few blocks from great food and lodging. There are always events going on to bring locals and tourists downtown.

Very nice area to relax after walking downtown. The area is pet friendly. Not much shade if your looking for that:

We loved just sitting by the water enjoying the cool crisp fall air and seeing the beautiful sites of Chattanooga!

Much history here is recognized by cultural structure and extensive park, walking trails and seating. Adjacent to the aquarium it all blends nicely together.

We didn't play in the water and the fountains were not flowing but we enjoyed the shade and watching the families play on the steps and in the wading pool.

This is where the Iron Man races are staged and where the swim portion of the race ends if you're into that. Park is pretty and offers some nice pedestrian walkways downtown. Very pretty lit up at night.

I took a long walk during my weekend in Chattanooga and it started right here at Ross's Landing Park. I strolled along the water and found my way to some cool places with nice views. I left the park by winding up the switchback trail that come up under the bridge and ends at the museum. Cool park with lots to read about on the history markers.

This park is the site of the famous Riverbed Festival that takes place in the summer in Chattanooga. At other times, there are lots of attractions in and around the park for locals and tourists.
