Raccoon Mountain Caverns is located just 1.3 miles off of I-24 at the Lookout Valley exit (#174), and is less than ten minutes from downtown Chattanooga. Visitors are presented with a cave in its natural state and our 45-minute (+/-) Crystal Palace Walking Tour allows them to view thousands of diverse formations - stalagtites, stalagmites, delicate soda straws, flowstone, rimstone pools, draperies, columns, natural bridges, and a rare shield formation. We also offer a variety of wild cave "spelunking" expeditions for those who want to view beyond the lighted pathways and explore deeper into the mountain. Our Waterfall Dome expedition permits visitors to view the areas tallest underground, natural (unassisted) flowing waterfall.

Cabins were awesome same as the caving trip. The employees we were greeted by Saturday afternoon were very nice but at check out on Sunday was not friendly and rude. The boys raised there own money to come here and we rented 4 cabins and somehow we miss placed 1 key. We knew it was around there or in 1... More

We went to Chattanooga for a short overnight getaway. We have been before and experienced the main attractions (Ruby Falls, the Aquarium, the incline) so we looked for some other activities. We found Raccoon Caverns! Before we went we drove by the incline and found an hour wait to go up and an hour wait to come down. Once at... More

The wild cave tours are really entertaining, if you're willing to dare a little bit. It's not as hard as it may seen, but maybe is not recommended for claustrophobic people.

My kids (12 & 11) and I did the Canyon Crawl. It was so much fun! We were all a little nervous at first and not sure what to expect, but our guide, Lauren, was wonderful. The caves are spectacular. There was a lot of scooching and sliding and ducking and crawling and even rolling, but it was so much... More

Not only were the caverns stunning with beautiful formations, the cavern crawl experience was amazing! Our guide, Ashley was wonderful! And our group of Girl Scouts and Moms had a blast crawling, climbing, sliding, rolling, and wiggling our way thru the caves. Highly recommend this!!!

Our guide Lauren was amazing. It ended up just my family and her on the tour and what a fun experience this was. We were not really sure what to expect, but it was a really cool adventure. Crawling, rolling, climbing, sliding...every part of my body was used getting through the caves. Most of the caves are pretty easy to... More

My daughter and I went on a cavern tour here this summer. It was so exciting as we have always done walking tours. On this tour we crawled deep in the cavern. It was an experience my daughter and I will never forget. Our guide was very knowledgeable and made the experience fun for us.

We'd talked about this for a while & found that after our train ride we had plenty of time to fit this in. We love caves & @ some point want to come back & do a crawl tour. This place was great.

The wild cave tours in general are a really good way to experience a cave. It is a lot better than a typical cave tour, because you go deeper into the cave, and see things that most people never experience. We got dirty, wet and tired, and had an experience that we will probably never forget. The tour guide Michael... More
