Raccoon Mountain Caverns is located just 1.3 miles off of I-24 at the Lookout Valley exit (#174), and is less than ten minutes from downtown Chattanooga. Visitors are presented with a cave in its natural state and our 45-minute (+/-) Crystal Palace Walking Tour allows them to view thousands of diverse formations - stalagtites, stalagmites, delicate soda straws, flowstone, rimstone pools, draperies, columns, natural bridges, and a rare shield formation. We also offer a variety of wild cave "spelunking" expeditions for those who want to view beyond the lighted pathways and explore deeper into the mountain. Our Waterfall Dome expedition permits visitors to view the areas tallest underground, natural (unassisted) flowing waterfall.

We did the 4.5 hr wild cave tour. Justin was our guide. Absolutely amazing tour and Justin was simply the best. They tell you that you will get wet, but if you are determined, staying dry is possible. Thanks for a great day. Can’t wait...More

Did the Waterfall Dome Expedition with Ashley and ae had a great time. If you like the idea of crawling through small openings in the rocks and don't mind getting muddy, then this is the trip for you. The cave system is really cool too......More

I’ve always wanted to go caving and this was a great place to try it! Our guide, Ashley was very helpful, enthusiastic and knowledgeable! At age 60, I found the 3 1/2 hour tour a bit too strenuous, but made it through to the end!

This was a phenomenal experience-we had a blast! Our guide was Lucas, and he was wonderful. Aspects of the 3.5 hour "wild" tour are as challenging as the information on the website states. Be prepared to get very muddy. We wore really old shoes that...More

No, there is no gold. It's for the kids to get a bag full of gems and sand for them to act like panning to find treasure, but yeah no gold!!
