Raccoon Mountain Caverns is located just 1.3 miles off of I-24 at the Lookout Valley exit (#174), and is less than ten minutes from downtown Chattanooga. Visitors are presented with a cave in its natural state and our 45-minute (+/-) Crystal Palace Walking Tour allows them to view thousands of diverse formations - stalagtites, stalagmites, delicate soda straws, flowstone, rimstone pools, draperies, columns, natural bridges, and a rare shield formation. We also offer a variety of wild cave "spelunking" expeditions for those who want to view beyond the lighted pathways and explore deeper into the mountain. Our Waterfall Dome expedition permits visitors to view the areas tallest underground, natural (unassisted) flowing waterfall.

Not knowing what to expect, we did the short loop - about 45 minutes. This is worth the price of admission, it's a must see! If you look hard enough, there are coupons for $2 off per person online. No online booking, but we didn't need it. Would like to go back and try the more challenging route. Must see... More

I have always wanted to go caving. We were looking for something to do with our grandkids for labor day weekend. Raccoon mountain is a close drive and we had never been. I however didn't want the ordinary walk through a cave with a tour guide. So we schedule the cave crawl. We arrived a little early to fill out... More

Our guide was the best that we've ever had on a cave tour. This cave tour is much less commercialized than it's competitors and we really liked that. The cave has some very special features that we had not seen in other caves before, we saw a bunch of salamanders and other wildlife. Our guide was super knowledgable, you could... More

Hands down better than Ruby Falls. Walked in, tour started 5 minutes later with no line. I honestly don't know why because it was way cooler than Ruby Falls (besides the waterfall). I think our guides name was Matthew. He was very fun and entertaining and answered all our questions. I can't say how awesome these caves were and how... More

Was reasonable and a good time especially on a cold day. We went in a group small enough to see and hear well. Micheal was our guild and very informative. He was good with questions even from small kids. He spotted cave life others would have missed. One was a salamander not much bigger than a thumb nail ant thinner... More

This was a spur of the moment visit and it was outstanding!!! We only had time to do the Crystal Palace tour and we were really in awe. The cave itself is beautiful and you actually get to really see a vital, growing, active cave up close and personal. We were so impressed!!! Our guide, Jeanne, was awesome - she... More

The crysral cave tour was so awesome. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and engaging for the whole family. I can't wait for my kids to get a little older (taller) so we can experience the some the harder cave exploration tours.

We loved the wild cave tour that we booked. All of the staff was very friendly. Our guide Lauren did an awesome job making sure I felt comfortable. Good crawls, some tight spots, several butt slides, beautiful formations. A must do if you are in the area.
