Pleasant Driving Route
Dec. 2019
We made a turn after visiting Raccoon Mountain Cave when we saw the sign. We're very happy we made it. The route is on paved the mountain road which offers top view, dam view, visit center for the TVA water system. Nice drive!

Vacation

We happened upon this place by word-of-mouth at a breakfast venue. We were headed someplace completely different what a great place to take ride and or walk. Although it was very chilly this morning we stayed in the car and just viewed the sites

Nice Drive Great Views
Oct. 2019 • Couples
This is a nice winding mountain road trip to great views Nickajack Lake and the ridges. The drive around the lake at the top of the mountain that is used as a holding tank for the power plan is beautiful. History at the visitor center is fascinating. Unfortunately the elevator down into the power plant has long since been closed.

Beautiful
Oct. 2019
We were trying to get to a different location near Chattanooga, but it was closed due to a hunt so we couldn’t get to the overlook/view. Luckily, a quick google search saved our plans and stumbled is upon this wonderful place. It is truly unique and beautiful. We were so happy to get there and drive through to see the water, mountains, lots of people bike riding, and overall just a great environment. We didn’t make it in time to get inside the visitor center, but the views from there are spectacular. It’s also cool to read all the history, signs, and see the dam itself. I highly recommend driving through here if you never have before and make sure to checkout the view at the visitor center.

Amazing for the technology and natural areas

We started out trying to find a way to see the "Grand Canyon of Tennessee" and found ourselves at the Visitors Center for this TVA Pump Storage Hydropower Facility. The views from the Visitors Center are breathtaking and the people staffing the center were friendly and willing to answer all our questions. Then we drove along the top of the dam and off to one of the many viewing areas. There are trails everywhere, a ball field, picnic tables, and beautiful natural areas to enjoy and watch wildlife. There were people there hiking, picnicking, running, etc., but you hardly noticed each other because the place is huge (like the whole mountain).

Great place to fish and one of Chatttanoga's best kept secrets.

Great place to fish and one of Chatttanoga's best kept secrets. Mostly a local spot and its at the bottom of Raccoon Mtn. One of the best views of downtown Chattanooga anywhere at the top of the mtn and it's all free. Also there are several mtn bike and hiking trails all over the mtn. Did i say its all free.........

We stopped in the area for the night and decided to go up to Raccoon Mountain to check out the view of the dam. We enjoyed the one lane traffic through the dam, it was very quite and pieceful and not much traffic. We were able to stopped along to way to enjoy the sites with no one rushing us through. Very interesting and beautiful views.

What an awesome view!! The gentlemen in the visitor center was incredibly knowledgeable and offered much information regarding the Dam and the process. If you are in the area, it is worth the drive up to observe.
