We drove to the site and I walked up the hill. It was interesting after visiting other attractions but I wouldn't go to far out of your way.

This is a very important historical site for the civil war and American history. A conflict that began to change in the outcome of the war. The site is very well kept, very informative, and close to other sites that are historically important. Not to mention my family history. Thanks for taking care of this historical site.

Winstead Hill is a 61 acre Civil War Battlefield. It sits at the very end of town at 4023 Columbia Ave. on the right just as you're leaving Franklin. There are Historic Plaques placed along the trail explaining the battle. There are a number of graves on the hill with an observatory at the top. The observatory has a beautiful... More

A must see for the historians of the Civil War. You will see the burial sites of the six Confederate Generals who were killed at the Battle of Franklin. Imagine all the trees gone, and the views towards Nashville Capitol. Be sure to learn more about this battle and the generals, which will give you a better picture of what... More

We heard about this site while at our tour at the Carnation Plantation. (Must see) What an amazing sight, full of history and sorrow. The view is stunning and gives you an insight of what the soldiers could see. Beautiful grounds, a must see and its free!

Start here to get a good idea of this famous battle. The stone markers are incredible!! The view of the farmland gives you a good idea of what the Confederates saw that fateful day.

We had been to Franklin before but did not know about this park until we heard about it at the Carter House. It is a good stop for understanding the battle.

This is an historic memorial park with significance in the second Battle of Franklin. It's a lovely place, even if you're just here for a walk or a hike.

I know this site has interesting historical significance, but I'd go just to enjoy the park. It has open green spaces where you can relax, read and picnic. Also lengthy trails that would be a perfect loop for a brisk run. Just a perfect spot for a sunny afternoon.

Do take the time to read or hear about the Battle of Franklin TN before going to this sight. You must be able to walk a small hill to get there, but is well worth it. You can envision the soldiers below.
