I remember the construction of the Sunsphere in 1981 in advance of the 1982 Worlds Fair, but until today I had never been inside the Sunsphere. About two years ago, the city of Knoxville reopened the Sunsphere Observation Deck. There is no cost to go up, and visitors are treated to a 360° view of Knoxville and the Smoky Mountains.... More

I was pleasantly surprised by the Sunsphere. Hope on the elevator for a free trip to the 4th floor observations deck. Once on deck you have a wonderful 360 view of Knoxville. Inside you can find all kinds of facts and murals about Knoxville and the history of the 1982 Worlds Fair which was why the Sunsphere was constructed. You... More

The sunsphere is a cool place to visit. Elevator takes you up, you can visit the observation deck or you can enjoy some dinner on another level. It's a neat place to visit but there isn't a lot specifically to do here. If the weather is pretty, plenty of other things to attract you to downtown and I'd make sure... More

We were at a large volley-ball tournament at the convention center so decided to ride the elevator up the Sunsphere Tower. The views were great and we really enjoyed reading all of the fun history and facts on the observation deck. Definitely worth the trip up!

Went looking for a great view. Disappointed. Some of a river view, but mostly building tops. However, the park we had to walk past was nice for kids. Difficultly finding where to park. Signs are not very informative. Parked behind the school, walked through the park and small Veterans Memorial. Underneath was under some sort of construction. Elevator was undesirable.... More

Had a planned team parents dinner during SECs. They were NOT prepared. Seating not conducive to mingling. Food took FOREVER, overpriced, and I sent my chicken marsala back as it tasted rubbery.

Wherever I go, I try and find a tall building to go up, so I have been up some of the tallest buildings in the world, this obviously doesn't compare. It has gold windows, which are not clean so the views aren't that good. However it is free. If you're in Knoxville then give it a look, don't go to... More

Was recommended we go check k it out while on our quick trip. It was totally worth the short walk and elevator ride up. Beautiful views of the city!
