We visited The Clare Heritage Centre in May 2016 and commissioned a report. Antoinette O'BRIEN was very helpful. The report did take many months to compile but I knew some of the records I was seeking were difficult if not impossible to find. Also we were warned there would be quite a wait as there was a backlog of reports... More

We had an excellent experience over several months with the Clare Heritage Center as we placed a research request from the United States. We have not personally visited the Centre but highly recommend the research quality they provide. My sister and I requested a search for our ancestor, Catherine Curry. We had the name of her father from her marriage... More

I visited Ireland in November 2015 as a tourist also hoping to find out information on my Mother's family. I spent 2 hours at the National Library in Dublin trying to find out our history...unfortunately, we came up without any info. The lady I was working with suggested that I contact Clare Genealogy Centre for help. I took that advice... More

I visited the Clare Heritage and Genealogy Centre as part of a family holiday in October. I arrived without an appointment but was quickly able to meet with genealogist Antoinette O’Bryen. Knowing I was only staying in the area for several days Antoinette and her team worked hard to identify the parcel of land where my great grandmother came from... More

My Great Grandparents came from Clare in the first half of the 1800s and I have been able to find out very little about them so am seeking help. We arrived unannounced and found the Center closed for lunch which was ok because then we went for a nice lunch. Be aware places do close for an hour for lunch.... More

I am the family historian. I planned a visit to Ireland this summer, and did my research on my Irish side. My mother's father emigrated from Co. Clare, and was from Ennis, but that is all I knew. I just couldn't get any further back. So, I contacted the Clare Heritage Centre and filled out their form. I told them... More

Thinking this was a heritage centre with useful info about the surrounding area were disappointed to find the museum door locked with a bell to ring. A charge of e3.50 to go in but with little indication of what there was to see. It also looked rather dated and unwelcoming. Had we wanted to use the genealogy centre we would... More

Have struggled to find the words to describe what a wonderful gift the Centre and Antoinette are to those of us with Irish Heritage. It was at the very end of our time in Ireland and I attended somewhat reluctantly given that we were due to fly out in little over a day. Surely not enough time to achieve anything.... More

After having filled in the online form, we turned up at the Centre with no prior warning. Antoinette was extremely accommodating, quickly finding details of family members we had never heard of. It was definitely necessary to come with key names, dates and details of the family we did know. Antoinette and the team were extremely helpful over the following... More

In addition to working on our family history, this Centre has an exhibit about the area and habitat. The region, burren, and various tours are described to help plan and explore west Clare. My husband contacted Antoinette O'Bryen months in advance of our trip to provide all the information we had available about family members. We were able to make... More
