The Golden Hind in Brixham Harbour, is one of only two full sized replicas in the world of 16th century explorer and privateer Sir Francis Drake's famous ship. The Ship has been a feature of picturesque Brixham harbour for over fifty years, entertaining and educating thousands of visitors during this time - as well as being featured on many tv programmes and films. The Ship is open come rain or shine and is an all weather attraction with many indoor displays as well as wide open decks and on-board activities.

I was surprised that this ship was a full sized replica of the original - it seemed so tiny that I could hardly imagine anyone would be brave enough to embark on a trip around the world in it. What courage to try - though the sailors who returned were all well rewarded, receiving three quarters of a million in... More

Visited today with 2 kids and the dog and the two ladies on duty could not have been more helpful. Really friendly, very knowledgeable & the kids loved exploring the ship. Very pleasant way to entertain the kids for a while.

Came here for a family morning walk and nice to see this ship. Smaller than i thought it was but looks so much on board. Did not go on as there were 9 of us but seeing this ship and the area was very interesting.

Suprising how much I enjoyed this. There is a lot more space than I was expecting but it is really sobering how cramped the ship is.

Be a sailor for a while.I didn't know where a sailor went to the toilet but when I found out I wished I hadn't asked where the toilets were! So much packed into a small ship you must go to believe it.

This is an iconic image of Brixham and I have lost count of the number of times I have walked past and thought that I should give it a go...well I finally did with my kids and they loved it. Interesting museum, thoughtful staff and great fun all round. Definitely worth 60-90 minutes of your time.

How many times have we driven past and said "we must go aboard".We live in the Bay,so on a visit to Brixham, on board we went, great fun, even if we have left our childhood a long time ago. In fact no doubt we will go aboard again. Thanks to all the crew who made us feel very welcome

Many thanks for visiting and taking the time to write such a poignant review - it's much appreciated. We love it when locals enjoy the ship and their time on it. We're now closed for winter maintenance but we look forward to seeing you again in 2017. More
