We were pleasantly surprised by this little gem. There is a small museum upstairs, which was informative and had appeal to younger visitors. The shop had a few quirky gifts e.g. a bottle of Dartmoor Beast (aka hot chilli sauce). What made it very special was the volunteers who work there, very friendly, knowledgable and kind. The man (sorry I... More

Worth attending if hiking on Dartmoor as full history given; not worth visiting just in its own right as, in reality, their is nothing else to do in Princetown except, perhaps, to visit HMPrincetown Prison Heritage Centre (which is not my cup of tea)

DARTMOOR with all its wonderful history and attractions is instantly at your fingertips when you browse the National Park Visitor Centre in Princetown. Remains of the building`s hotel past can be seen in the main hallway where an old floor mosaic welcomes guests. That welcome still exists with Centre staff who were quick to answer our questions about routes across... More

Covers a wide range of things of interest including videos. Great for children as they can dress up in a selection of costumes, some reflecting the legends of Dartmoor. There are also a small number of activities for children, mainly sit at the table variety.

This is a free exhibit which covers many things. One thing we did was talk to the staff about our relatives who once worked for the Duchy of Cornwell and lived in Princetown. Besides the moor there is a great section on the Sherlock Holmes story of the Hound of the Baskervilles and how Conan Doyle travelled the area finding... More
