The National Trust maintain this former workman's cottage in the Dorset countryside. It's literally two up (entertaining room and kitchen) and two down (bedroom and bathroom). Very informed guides about the life of the man who became a controversial hero and then vanished into self-imposed obscurity in the RAF and then the Army before dying in an accident in 1935.... Having visited once or twice already, It was a pity we went this time on a less than sunlit day, and had to rely on the little LED torches which did nothing to let us see the downstairs room as a whole, and meant that looking st the pictures was a one at a time experience. Surely it isn't beyond... More

Very small house - one bedroom downstairs plus bathroom. One main room upstairs with small pantry/guest bedroom to the side. The house is exceptionaly dark and eyes take a while to adjust. Less dark upstairs so I would do this first and then come downstairs where it is very dark and needs a torch (provided) till your eyes adjust. Bedroom... More

Having seen Lawrence of Arabia many years ago and from time to time seen documentaries about his exploits we never realised how and why he ended up. What a remarkable person to have achieved so must and to end his life so tragically.

Been meaning to visit Lawrence of Arabia's very small cottage (only 4 rooms) for some time while staying in Dorset. Managed to get there this year. Well worth the visit and the relatively small price of admission. I was very impressed by the content and layout of the rooms, preserved from the 1930s, including a marvellous old gramophone and some... More

It has always been my desire to visit Clouds Hill ever since I began an interest for T E Lawrence and was not dissapointed when finally getting there. Reading about the simplicity of Clouds Hill and the need for TEL to find peace and quiet you will soon see hopw it all fits together. It is not a huge attraction... More

We tried to visit this house of Lawrence of Arabia once before but unfortunately there is very little parking there and the road is too dangerous to park on. Clouds Hill is a very small house in which Lawrence of Arabia lived for some years. It has never had electricity which meant it was quite dark inside but our eyes... More

A four roomed cottage with no electricity but an incredible atmosphere, even if you are not a fan of T E Lawrence it is still worth a visit. The National Trust volunteers were very informative and worth listening to.

A small cottage with little home comforts, but packed with history. Be prepared to do a lot of reading, well worth the effort to learn about Lawrence and his home. A do it yourself drink in the garage, so go prepared if you want refreshment. If you're a NT member and enjoy your history well worth the visit.
