Hugely enjoyable golf, splendid clubhouse and warm welcome await at Crail Golfing Society. Founded in 1786 and the seventh oldest golf club in the world, it celebrated its 225th anniversary in 2011. The club has two courses: Balcomie Links, a unique, traditional links laid out by Old Tom Morris, and Craighead Links, a challenging links experience designed by 2009 Golf Course Architect of the Year Gil Hanse.

Wonderful old course on the North Sea coast of Fife, Scotland. A very old course with some narrow fairways, if you stick to your own.... I played one weekday afternoon and it was very quiet. I'm not sure that I would have enjoyed it so much if it was busy - the fairways are very close to each other at... More

I visited as part of group of 16 and was very impressed with Balcomie Course and Restaurant. the Course hugs the coastline for the first 5 holes and numbers 4 and 5 are classics. There are 6 par 3s but they variety makes them all interesting and does not diminish the experience at all. i would say this is a... More

Played here for the 1st time today & this Links Course is Great! All Fairways & Greens are immaculately manicured ... Fairways are wide & Greens are generally large, which is just as well, because they are also extremely fast due to being of an exceptionally high standard. Bunkering is strategically placed & provides a challenge throughout your round. This... More

Played both Balcomie Links and Craighead Links and absolutely love both courses. Real traditional links golf at its best, I would highly recommend to anyone. Sea views from every hole, amazing views from a very well presented clubhouse which serves great food. If the wind blows, these courses are a real test for any golfer, very slick and tricky greens.... More

A beautiful day with a light wind breeze and you were able to concentrate on the golf holes and the scenery, particularly those running along the coastline. Despite the signage, I found the second hole confusing. Number ten was probably the weakest hole on the course - all of the remaining were second to none. The course was not rated... More

Had a great round of golf on Balcomie, only £25. Very windy but course played great. Shot a gross 75 and play off 12 so was delighted. Even managed to par "Hells hole by driving straight over the sea and back onto the fairway. Will be back!!

I played Craighead this year and the old course, Balcomie links last year. Each course has outstanding views and both are a great test for all levels of golfers. They are located just outside of the village of Crail which is a wonderful old fishing village and harbour. Green fees are modest and worth every penny.
