Three years since we last visited and it's just as fresh today. The museum is well looked after and I enjoyed the section about clearances and emigration especially the voiceover reading a letter home. Outside there is a fab blue playhouse for young children with plenty to keep them occupied. The garden is lovely and we heard the friendly ducks... More

I took my mother here for the day when the weather was poor and it kept us occupied for a few hours. There is a lot of information in a small space covering lots of historical topics and it is really well set out. Some of the exhibits can be handled which makes a nice change. The gardens are also... We visited as a family with a one year old baby. It had been a mixed weather day (It often is in Arran!), so we decided to pop in and see what it was like. We had a brilliant time! Lots of interesting little rooms and buildings to explore with a selection of the historical, the informative and the curious... More

Having passed the entrance to this museum for several years we finally made it. A great collection of agricultural implements over the centuries as well as themed displays ranging from archeology to domestic life to World War Service. And a very nice tea room and shop with helpful staff.

We had passed this museum several times and did not feel particularly inclined to visit as the signage outside gives no real indication of how good this museum is. Very few people there when we went one afternoon. We expected to be there just a short time but stayed several hours and even then it was only tiredness that made us... More

Decided to visit as it was a wet day with near gale force winds. Some of museum outdoors (tractors and farming equipment ) so we did these bits in between showers. Indoors sections included cottage, history of clearences, crashed aircraft on Arran - who'd have thought there'd be so many, geology etc. Excellent couple of hours. Had a coffee in... More

Considering a population of ~5000, this is a real (little) gem. A lot about the history a 100 years ago, even a smithy and a sample house. The real interesting part however is the geology section on Arran. Although a big aged, a must for everyone spending a few days on Arran to learn a bit about its origins.
