Stunning

Went here for a wee visit. It was closed as it's not summer opening yet. Beautiful to look at. Beautiful views all around it. Also saw some deer eating in front of the houses.

Lochranza Castle is a nice spot and very picturesque. I couldn't give it a 5 star because. . . well . . . It's just sort of there. There's nothing to do at the castle it's not an attraction in that sense though nearby walks round the Cock of Arran and Hutton's Unconformity are good.

We visited here in Feb 2017 . This is the first time , in many a visit , the castle had no scaffolding and work going on . It`s now a real photographers dream , if your lucky enough to arrive at high tide on a calm day . The castle has interesting history , and it`s free to enter... More

If your on Arran then it's more than likely that you will end up at the castle in Lochranza. Plenty of car parking nearby and it's just a short stroll up to the castle. There's no admission fee as you can't get in, it's a ruin! Worth a short stop for photos which can be spectacular in the right conditions.... More

Right by the side of the road, well made information signs and good photo location. Invites to sit down on one of the benches and just take in the scenery.

Visited with 5 year old who loved that this was a real ruined castle. Smelt old and had crumbling walls. Useful info panels that created lots of historical questions from children.

Never in all the years I've been to Arran have we been able to see inside this beautiful Castle. Managed to puruse the nooks and crannies. Could feel the presence of those no longer present. Great place for the kids to explore.

Definitely worth a quick stop. There isn't a whole lot to see, but the signs give a bit of perspective on the history of the ruins. It only takes a few minutes to see and is just up the main road from the ferry.
