Located on the outskirts of the ancient market town of Forres lies Benromach Distillery. From a small and almost lost distillery emerged a single malt withdistinctive qualities reflecting its hand made credentials as well as encapsulating the self-reliance, sophistication and modern values of Scotland today.Established in 1898, the distillery experienced many closures and changes in ownership prior to 1993, when malt whisky specialists, Gordon & MacPhail rescued it. Following an extensive reinstallation project, embracing the distillery's original character, Benromach was officially re-opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in 1998.Just three experienced distillers create Benromach using the finest Scottish barley and the purest spring water from the nearby Romach Hills. They personally ensure that only the highest quality spirit is filled into sturdy oak casks before being left to mature at Benromach Distillery for many years.

My husband, my friend and I did the contrast tour on Friday and had a great couple of hours here. Alec was our tour guide and kept us informed and entertained all the way around and then made the whiskey tastings fun. Excellent trip and we would love to do it again.

A fine, late 1800's Single Malt Distillery. My favorite is the 15 year old, finished in Sherry and bourbon Oak.....smooth, and delicious. One of the best Speyside attractions for a single malt distillery!......take the tour!!!

So glad we put this visit on our agenda for our great week in Speyside. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit here which was extremely well conducted with clear & concise commentary. Neat & tidy distillery and lovely little visitor centre. Enjoyed sampling both the Organic & The Sassicaia which surprised us with their wonderful complexity and tasty palate.

Fortunate to have had Alex take 14 of us around for a tour. Constant smiles and stories from a genuine story teller. Loved the smaller feel of the place with international quality whiskies. Best guided tour of our 3 day in Speyside!!

I wanted to visit a unique distillery in Scotland and after trying their whisky, I chose Benromach. Everyone there was so incredibly friendly and passionate about the whisky, I am really happy I chose them over a larger more mainstream distillery. The tour was fantastic, so informative and interesting and then the tasting was a highlight. Really exceptional whisky made... More

We had never been on a distillery tour before and as we were staying in Nairn, this was accessible for us. So glad we did. Visiting out of season, no queue and so much more personal. We 'toured' the site with the very knowledgeable and friendly Annabelle, and a couple from The Netherlands and a family from Essex. Although the... More

Tour was about an hour. Not part of big conglomerate so this distillery was very different from he other one we saw (Blair Athol in Pitlochry). Both were very interesting and recommended.
