Great Tour, Hauntingly Beautiful Place
Sep. 2021
Friends and I took the tour and learnt a lot about the cultural and natural history of the cave from our friendly and knowledgeable guide. This is a hauntingly beautiful place with fascinating geology. Great place for a picnic.

Interesting chance to explore
Sep. 2021 • Couples
Nice for a walk around. Great steady and interesting rock formation.
There hadn’t been much rain recently, so the waterfall was just a trickle, but assume this could get impressive.
We didn’t do the tour, but that looked like it could be fun, as you were taken around the cave in a dinghy.

Did the Smoo Cave tour. It was very interesting and the guides were extremely knowledgable. The boat trip was good too.

Nice stop if you are in the area
Jun. 2021
Smoo Cave is worth a visit if you are passing. The parking is very limited. When we visited there had been very little rain so there wasn't a waterfall in the Cave. The walk to get there is steep and challenging if you aren't very fit.

This is ok, but the tour is over priced
Sep. 2021 • Couples
This was ok to visit as we were staying nearby.
Lots of steps to encounter so not good for buggies or pushchairs or wheelchairs.
Big cave entrance.
If you want the ‘tour’ you put your name on a board and then you are called forward.
It is £10 per head for the tour which although very interesting, £5 per head would have been more appropriate.

Good stop on the NC 500
Aug. 2021
We was traveling around the NC 500 and heard so much about these caves and falls we had to stop, nice walk down to the gorge and the shore where the caves open up and you can see the waterfall, no boat rides operating but that didn't effect our experience. Worth look for sure.

Nice stopover on the way
Aug. 2021 • Couples
Smoo cave is really beautiful. Location is perfect and the I really liked the history of the cave being used by the Vikings in the past.

However, it is nothing similar to what is shown in the pics. It's a 15mins expedition. Parking lot machine was not working; cave could've been better maintained (can charge an entrance fee rather than keeping it free).

All in all, a good 15-20mins stopover on the way.

A nice stop
Aug. 2021
This was a nice stop during our North Coast 500 drive. The car park is too small but we were lucky in our timing with someone pulling out. There are toilets.

It is a nice walk down to the cave, a good stretch of the legs, but unless this is your first ever cave it is nothing particularly of huge note. The tours were not running which seem to run from the cave entrance so we could not see the other caves.

Nice.

The cave is beautiful - nature at work but think it is a bit over rated as you literally can see in the viewpoint only. The walk before it and around the top Is stunning though. Lots of parking but the place is really busy. Car parking across the road for £1 per hour - really helpful guy helping people to squeeze in. A nice stop.
