Beautiful scenery and nice easy walk down to cave. Couldn't go inside as it was off-peak season but it looked interesting.

A supposed former smugglers cave, there is a small car park and a short and safe path down the cliff side via a set of steps (but only accessible to the fit and healthy). The cave itself is spectacular, particularly the second cavern with an internal waterfall. The sound of this and natural and artificial light made this a haunting... More

Have visited the cave on a couple of occasions during the last couple of years. It is a nice place to visit and it's free! The views around the local area are excellent. The bird life good too. Only given 4 stars because I have been to better attractions in the local area. Quit a few steps, so no good... More

Smooth cave is a great place to go and get some great photos, it has a lot of history dating back to the vikings when they used it for boat building etc. And the waterfall inside the cave is wonderful and we'll worth the walk down the steps. Free to get in and a free car park so no excuses... More

If your in the area then you must visit, while traveling there we came across some breathtaking views. The Smoo cave was out of this world. I recommend it however it's not suitable for people with mobility issues and toilets don't open until Easter.

This place is absolutely Amazing - although we visited in close season so no tours available. The waterfall inside is fascinating and we even walking up to the top to see it going through into caves! Amazing piece of natural beauty! Stop off for a visit if in the NC500

I found myself in Durness with work last spring and I decided to go for a walk at night. As well as finding that Durness is a lovely little place to walk around at night I also discovered Smoo Cave. Now I'm sure you're not supposed to go down to the bottom of the cave at night but I've got... More
