Overview
More
Nessie, the creature supposedly inhabiting Scotland's mysterious Loch Ness, is undoubtedly one of the most well-known monsters in the world. Sightings started popping up in the late 19th century and ever since, Nessie has held the world's attention and the myth has refused to die. Visitors wishing to learn more about the legends surrounding Loch Ness can do so at Nessieland Castle Monster Centre in Drumnadrochit. While this miniature theme park is aimed at children, it offers plenty of educational displays. There are lots of newspaper clippings reporting sightings, grainy photographs and display panels explaining the mystery of the Loch Ness Monster. A multilingual documentary takes visitors on the hunt for Nessie and not only shows eyewitness accounts, but also underwater searches that have been taking place since the 1970s. Whether you end up being a believer or not, Nessieland offers a lot of fun. Kids especially enjoy the supposedly life-sized Nessie model that can be ridden, the large adventure playground and the caves. Of course, there is also a gift shop where the corresponding Nessie memorabilia can be purchased.

Small place with very few games for children and very messy as outside. The museum only states general facts and is dark and not welcoming. The price is too expensive for this. It's mainly a shop but then again no interesting things in stock.

We visited Nessieland this week as unfortunately we couldn't go on the boat trip that we'd planned, but what a mistake. The attraction consists of one large room with information boards around the sides, and large models of sea monsters. There is a dreadful smell...More

There is nothing to see in other than news clippings; there is no play area. The climbing Nessie is outside, you can let your children play with it without entering and paying the unjustified entry fee. Also, watch out for the change, they tried to...More

We were stopping at the Loch Ness Lodge Hotel next door so we got in free. There was plenty of information on the walls about the history of the Loch. In fact the walls were very busy and it didn't take us a huge amount...More
