At the southern end of Loch Ness, Fort Augustus is an ideal stopping point for lunch and to gather your energy before driving up the loch. There are five or six snack places, pubs and cafés right next to the system of lock gates that raise the level of the water up to the loch. If is pleasant to sit... More

As the base for Cruise Loch Ness, the southern tip of this famous site, the surprise was seeing about 5 canal lochs which join the higher waters down to Loch Ness. Can be an enjoyable site to witness. Some decent enough food available, and accom choices. not a bad base to enjoy Loch Ness from.

A fabulous little town steeped in history with the added bonus of being on the banks of Loch Ness, the Caledonian Canal with all the locks is always nice to see.

Fort Augustus is located on the southern tip of Loch Ness and it's a little town with lots of bnbs, a petrol station and a mini mart. Not much to do but it provides good stopover before or after visiting the loch.

The views in this beautiful little town are nothing short of spectacular, the Caledonian canal locks were opening as we got here and my little boy was really excited by this, it was I have to say a sight to behold! Brilliant little gift shops and nice restaurants

Being a sunny day as we drove around Loch Ness we took advantage of places to stop and stretch our legs. Fort Augustus is a lovely village with a good car park, which turned out to be free that day. We took a walk around the village and more particularly the locks of the Caledonian Canal leading from the Loch,... More

We had supper there one evening and then watched boats go through the locks on the canal the next day.

The nicest village I've seen on Loch Ness, deeply immersed in the characteristic local atmosphere of the monster.

A lovely and quaint little town where the Caledonia Canal is located. There are many little gift shops to find one of a kind items. There are a few nice places to eat with varying price ranges. Nice clean public toilets by the free car park area and a gs station as well.

We found the locals most friendly and helpful, indeed the visitors were also very nice people too. It's a place where even the hardest of hearts will melt in awe of the scenery and the atmosphere
