Such a great little place to find and stop off for the night and explore. It is a place to have a bite to eat and a drink whilst you watch the world go by on the water as all manner of boats pass through the lovely flight of locks. So glad we decided at last minute to stop here.

After driving through the Scottish countryside we landed at Fort Augustus. Very pretty place. Walked down to Loch Ness and took pics of ourselves at the blue Loch Ness sign. The scenery is stunning! Very interesting watching the Loch's in operation. There are places to eat and to purchase souvenirs. Didnt see Nessie! :)

I loved our short stop over in Fort Augustus, even better than our Loch Ness Cruise! Many shops and eateries along the canal to just sit and relax and watch the water. I will be back when I can stay longer!

You can ride a cruise along the loch ness. I didn't manage to hop in because it was too late for me and my family since it was almost dark. We bought some of souvenir in this shop called The Millshop. Nothing much to do there though but you will appreciate and cherish the surrounding if you're a truly nature... More

Very beautyful and nice village. Only the shopsigns show the 21st century. Canal locks are a must see.

It's a lovely place, very tranquil with Loch Ness, mountains and a nice canal and lock system. There's a few hotels, not much in the way of restaurants, but there is a small pub near the locks with an ungodly number of bottled whiskys behind the bar. Dozens of them. It's magnificent.

This really is a bustling little town in the highlands and a great place to chill. Stroll along the Caledonian canal. Walk to the pepper pot lighthouse. Have a cuppa overlooking Loch Ness. Sit outside a pub watching the boats in the locks. A great place to visit.
