There are works going on here at the minute with lots of scaffolding so you will need to bear that in mind,however-this is a very beautiful set of ruins of the old abbey. It is quite a large site and has a lot of interesting features-very worthwhile to have a stroll around and look at the architecture ,grounds and views.... More

A must see, full of history and wonder and a little imagination of what this wonderful place would have looked like. The man who worked in the Visitor Centre was very helpful that's when we became members. No looking back after that. Well worth the membership.

We visited here on a quick stop on a guided tour. Unfortunately it was closed for maintenance but because the attendant knew the tour guide we were able to go part of the way in and get some photos. We also heard part of the story of of this abbey, to be completed when we arrived at Dunure Castle!

Thanks for your review. Sorry to hear that you thought Crossraguel Abbey was closed. We do have some scaffolding up for some essential maintenance work but the abbey is open for you to explore. We have reduced the entrance price due to the work taking place at the abbey which has resulted in partial closure of the site. The admission... More

Visited this abbey after passing it the day before and seeing it from the road. When we arrived we realised we virtually had it to ourselves. The attendant was very informative and friendly and offered the kids a quiz, which we all helped to solve and proved to be quite good fun. We all found it very interesting and the... More

Very large pretty Abbey, on your way to Turnberry and Whisky Experience. Large rooms, nice cloisters. Good grounds and nice staff work there too! Climb the gate house for views. Cows are fun to watch there too.

The Abbey is one of the best preserved in Scotland. Reputed to be the place where Robert Bruce King of Scots was baptised and educated Its last Abbott debated with John Knox in Maybole

This place is a must see. The abbey is incredibly well preserved considering it was built in the 1200s.... The architecture is lovely, and you can climb up one of the towers that is still standing to get a great view of the surrounding area. The staff that has been there both times we have visited has been incredibly helpful,... More
