Essential to get a historical slice of Islay life. Very well presented exhibits bring the character, occupations and domestic reality to life. Very helpful and informative staff. Do not miss.

Lots to see and very informative. Very friendly knowledgeable staff. Situated in a former church, which is interesting in itself.

Small but very powerful feeling as you enter. There is a sense of being drawn personally into the objects you are looking at and transported back in time. They have a range of objects that cover a huge time span as well as subjects, some with sadness. A looking glass into the past that should not be missed

Don't let the size of this small museum fool you, the information within is amazing. The collection of old things thoughout Islay inhabited timeline is vast, and took us plenty of time to get round everything. The large collection of old books was really interesting, and quite impressive to have.

We were staying at Port Mor, just along from Port Charlotte, but I would definitely recommend travelling over to enjoy the museum if staying on other parts of the island. We were welcomed by a really interesting member of staff who is on... More
