About
For nearly 200 years a small team of dedicated islanders have worked here to create what is considered to be the most distinctive single malt in the world. Of course over time the people change, but our traditional methods, the ancient skills and absolute dedication to quality always remains. We would be proud if you make the journey to visit our home and you will be assured of the warmest of welcomes when you do.

    A Laphroaig Fan
Laphroaig is one of my favorite whiskies so I am a bit biast as it was a bucket list visit. It is a beautiful distillery and the staff we encountered was very helpful. We did the Experience Tour with Ross and it was great, although I think the Wharehouse Tasting Tour might be a better option. We stayed in Port Ellen and walked to Laphroaig, it is a very nice and easy walk on the Three Distillery Path. Overall the distillery visit is a must even if just for a quick photo of the iconic wall.

    Long live Laphroaig!!
Tour of the distillery water source including delicious picnic. Sampled rare drams at water source and cask sampling in warehouse 1. Experience was leisurely, friendly and very inviting. Great delivery of value for cost

    A perfect day at Islay
Everything was perfect; the tourgide, the drams, the walk to the water, the lunch, the warehouse 1 tasting and bottling, even the weather. I’d do this tout any time I’d be here. Unfortunately that’s not going to be for a while. Laphroaig was my favorite whisky en now it’s way harder to top it! It was the best day of my life.

    Excellent Honeymoon visit
One thing to say upfront (and this is not unique to Laphroaig) is that it is CRITICAL to book any taxis you need at least a day in advance. The taxi companies on Islay are all small companies with just a few cars so it is very difficult to get a cab on the fly. Either rent a car (also must be planned in advance) or order expect to order taxi pickups/drop-offs well I advance. Now onto Laphroaig specifically… Our Warehouse 1 Tasting tour was with Richard and he was excellent. He explained all about the processes, how Laphroaig compares to other distilleries on the island, and some of the uniqueness of Laphroaig. He mentioned several times that how someone experiences a whisky was an individual experience and to not get hung up on other people’s description or reviews, which was a comforting thing to hear. After the tour we went to the bar area and sampled several of the whiskies and the staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. Walked away with several bottles, more limited by luggage space than bottles we wanted.

    Enjoyable and informative
My family and I had a wonderful and informative tour. Our guide was engaging and knowledgeable, and the facilities were impressive. We particularly enjoyed watching the actual process in progress (not just a simulation or museum exhibit). And the views were stunning.

    Three Distilleries Trail, Port Ellen
The tour was well worth the trip. We took the town bus from Port Ellen to Ardbeg and walked down along the Three Distilleries Trail. The Ardbeg distillery had a good sampling set up. We were unable to do a tour there due to timing. We did have some great sampling and the staff at the bar was very knowledgeable about the different Scotches and the flavors of each. Lagavulin was okay. We did not spend much time there. The gentleman in the store area was friendly and offered samples. There did not appear to be much in the way of a sampling lounge or tour but we may have just missed the areas when we entered. Our favorite by far was Laphroaig. The lounge offered a wide range of tastings. The tour was excellent and very informative about their Scotch making process. Our guide was informative, entertaining and very knowledgeable about the process and the product. I would highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in Scotch. My only recommendation would to have food available on weekends. Trying all these Scotches would be enhanced by having some food on your stomach.

    Uisge Tour was amazing!
I’ve taken multiple distillery tours and had decided that if you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. The Uisge Tour proved me entirely wrong. Yes, you saw the mash tun and the stills, but Laphroaig adds in the malting floors, the kiln, and even the peat. While other distilleries stop there, or take you through a quick peek at a warehouse, Laphroaig hands you a gourmet picnic lunch and off we go to the source of the water. Good job, you’ve climbed a big hill; let’s pour a dram to celebrate! Then a beautiful site for lunch. Then a nice walk back (look here for your Square Foot). All ending in Warehouse No. 1 for hand-drawn cask tastings and a very special souvenir. The £150 price tag feels high ahead of time, but I promise you’ll get that back in delicious whisky and the experience. There are good breaks to rest - and get your free dram or some tastings at the bar. A whole afternoon of whisky heaven!

    Iconic distillery on Islay
Have always been intrigued by Islay and the Laphroaig story. Booked a tour and they did an awesome job of explaining and showing their process. Tour guide was friendly and great at explaining and answering questions. Very educational during tasting session. Learned a lot!

    Great Whisky and Location
Aah Laphroaig the name speaks for itself and top of my sons and mine list to visit. We were unable to do a tour but happily spent a lazy couple of hours in the sun sampling the delights. A really peaceful place we had it almost to ourselves. Nice helpful and engaging staff with a small but comfy indoor bar, that also offers free coffee which i thought a nice touch. The location ,views and the buildings all just like the whiskey excellent.

    Fantastic nice tour
We had a wonderful walk from Port Ellen and had booked a guided tour (1.5 hour) at the classic distillery. Everybody at Laphroaigh was very friendly and our guide, Susan, was lovely. The tour ended with some tasting of the peated gold. Fantastic!

Fantastic experience to learn about the history and whisky making process at Laphroaig. Staff were very passionate and knowledgeable and made us feel very welcome. The tasting was great to understand the differences in the range of 10 year with the cask strength being our favourite. The visitor centre and shop is great and we purchased a Laphroaig items including a few bottles. We had children and dogs with us who were also welcomed into the visitor centre and enjoyed their time.
Great experience and would definitely recommend.

Took the Uisge tour and it was the experience of a lifetime! Got to sample 6 different selections throughout the tour, personally chosen by our guide, only one of which is commercially bottled (Lore). The other 5 were either experimental or single cask whiskies yet to be married into a final whisky.
I highly suggest that anyone planning one of these tours, also book taxi transport if you don't have your own transportation as taxis are in very high demand during the high season.

Visited on 12th on entering 4 staff stood near till all taking to each other. No hello or welcome looked round for 5-10 minutes looking at various bottling’s, still staff talking to each other, gave up and walked out, really poor customer service and I will buy my bottles online via a more custom focused provider.

Real shame as last year the staff were superb, as with whisky with age comes more quality and maturity!

We came at the right time for a rare look inside the actual warehouse and saw the sheer scale and effort that is put into storing and aging Laphroaig whisky. The guide was enthusiastic and knowledge. The surrounding area is beautiful. Also the rare flavours we experienced! Quite a special experience for a whisky lover

We arrived quite late and without a booking, intending to just do a swift recognisance of the tourist shop. We were greeted with an astonishingly warm welcome by a guide on the brink of locking up, she swiftly offered us a peek at the dunnage as if we were old accomplices, which we gratefully accepted. This was then followed by an offer of a complimentary tasting directly from one of the casks. Again, it would be churlish to refuse such generous hospitality. I was immediately overcome by the best whisky tasting experience of my entire life. A very generous (I would call it a ‘measure’ but no such limitation appeared to be applied) tot/glass of typically pale straw coloured oily fluid, complete with scintillating charcoal slivers, was handed to me. A sniff told me I was getting a rare privilege here. In the mouth the brine, toffee, fireside, butteriness just bowled me over. Perhaps the crashing ocean and mist of sea salt had a part to play, but I like to think it would still be just as sublime back home, if only it was for sale.

Apart from the heavenly whisky and sublime location, with picnic tables overlooking the bay awash in wafts of peat smoke and mash, the people here couldn't be more considerate! They truly went out of their way to accommodate us after we missed our scheduled visit due to that morning's ferry to Islay being cancelled by the operators on account of covid. We're now devotees for life, and all of our future Laphroaig drams will be further enriched by memories of the teams' kindness. Thanks again!

We were mad keen Laphroig fans and so excited to finally visit our favorite brand after traveling from Australia. But wow. So impersonal. Our tasting consisted of getting 3 tokens you would purchase your tasting. One of the bottles required 3 tokens so that was it. We were keen to buy up in the shop but after this experience we bought nothing. How can you buy if you didn’t have a sample. So sorry Laphroig but I think you have lost a couple of previously loyal customers…..
Prior to our tasting we had browsed the shop and decided on several purchases but after our ‘token’ experience we left empty handed.
Best avoided if you want great whisky experiences. Many other distilleries do this tasting experience waaaaay better

Terrific tour of the distilley following the barley, the peat smoke all the way to the spirit. The smells!

And then a great tasting, strong recommend for the quarter cask but note we got three 'tags' for tasting meaning you can try three good whiskies worth a single tag or one excellent whisky worth two tags plus a single good dram. Does that make sense? The free dram of Cairdeas at the beginning made it all worthwhile!

If time and weather allows buy some of the Laphroaig cheese, a few oat crackers and sit outside. The staff arranged a small plate and cheese knife and there we sat snacking and enjoying that beautiful view!

We had a great experience on the tour and the tasting afterwards. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly and made a novice whisky drinker like me feel right at home. The selection of offerings for tasting was great…something for the new whisky drinker to the aficionado.

Having now visited al the distilleries that were open we felt that Laphroaig offered the best welcome. We've done several mainland distillery tours and so didn't need a tour but the fact that the welcome area has a quaint and informative mini-museum which you can wander round at your own pace plus the invitation to have complimentary tea or coffee, plus a free driver's dram was a very nice touch. Clearly the product speaks for itself (as they al do) - it's juts a pity the wind and rain was driving hard outsdie so we couldn't spend longer wandering around.
