I had an amazing day yesterday hiking in Isle of Skye!!

It was a bit tricky setting up arrangements but Sarah (owner) kept messaging me back and even left a few voice messages to keep me in the loop. I would call myself pretty adventurous so I wanted a challenge. Jordan did not disappoint!! - There are multiple routes and I choose to take a more challenging one. The views were spectacular absolutely stunning. With this tour group we went to some parts of the trail that no one else was on. Jordan is also a bit of an environmentalist so he made sure we didn't go in areas that would possibly distrupt/add too much impact to further erosion in the area. I learned so much about the healing capabilities of the plants in the area.

The weather was quite nice for me but be sure to pack rain pants, rain jacket, waterproof hiking boots with ankle support, a hearty lunch and water (as needed).

To add more cherry on top, Sarah was the first female trail guider in the area. It's a shame she's the first but I'm happy I was able to support her and her amazing crew. So knowledgeable, book/email now and you don't regret it.

Getting here was a nightmare. I'm staying in Inverness so the only way out there is by car it took about 3 hours. Just be mindful of all of you cost because it quickly adds up and possible consider staying in Portee to save on time and have better views when you wake up 😉

We had a great experience hiking on 2 days with our guide Jamie. From the conversations I had with them prior to booking the trip, until the hiking itself, they were only too happy to help. We were particularly impressed with the way they dealt with us having to change the second part of our trip at short notice due to my wife's knee problems. Instead of climbing up Bruach na Frithe as originally planned, we had a beautiful hike through part of the Skye Trail, including some quite challenging sections which were new to our guide but he nevertheless took us through them effectively. He in turn had undertaken discussions with other Skye Adventure staff prior to our departure, to prepare for the terrain. Conversation on the hiking days was also good as we covered many topics from hiking/climbing to politics, and were never bored on our 7+ hour hikes. Jamie cared about our wellbeing and supported us to take breaks whenever needed, especially on the first day where we climbed Blaven on a scorchingly hot day. I would recommend anyone to book with this company and we would certainly use them again on subsequent trips to Skye.

We have been in the Cuillins with John on several occasions now and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We have achieved our goals each time.
John is very fit and knows the mountains and virtually every rock in them. On the very first trip out he discreetly assessed our ability and capabilities without it being obvious. He made both of us feel safe, relaxed and comfortable in his company. He was very good company and very knowledgeable in many areas. John was also flexible with the weather, which made us feel very safe.
John is also a community man and supportive of his Skye community.
I would recommend John unreservedly to anyone who wanted an excellent mountain experience.

Having had spinal surgery a few years ago and gained a few kgs, plus being over 50 and not at my fittest I was nervous for my first time coasteering with my family. Sarah and Matt were amazing helping me achieve the physical and mental feats safely whilst facilitating me re-accessing my belief and faith in my body and it’s capacity to climb and jump and swim. My boys and husband really loved it too! A fabulous experience that allowed us to see the beauty of Skye from really unique spaces.

John Smith of Skye Adventure guided my friend Greig and me up Sgurr a'Mhadaidh & Sgurr a' Ghreadhaid on 11/10/21 and Sgurr Mhic Choinnich & Sgurr Alasdair on 20/04/22. We are both in our 70's and though fit Munroists were a little worried by some of the exposure on these ascents. We need not have worried. John is supremely professional, knows every hand and toe-hold intimately and has all the necessary ropes and equipment. Once roped up (where necessary) and under his encouraging leadership we felt totally at ease and comfortable with our ascents and descents. We even enjoyed the traverse of Collie's Ledge which is something we thought we would never say having watched the obligatory Youtube videos! If you need an exceptional mountain guide, we cannot recommend John more highly. Thanks to John, Greig 'compleated' his round of the Munros on Sgurr Mhic Choinnich and I will on Ben More, Mull on 31/05/22 weather permitting!
I should also mention the very proficient and helpful Sarah Sutton at the office when we first contacted Skye Adventure and subsequently to discuss our needs and dates. All first rate.

We had a fantastic day out with Skye adventure! We had aimed to climb up Sgurr Alasdair, the highest mountain on Skye, however some people in our group thought it would be too difficult for them so we changed our route with the help of our guide to climb Sgurr Nan Eag. We had some fantastic views due to the cloud inversion and on the way up, we even saw an adder basking in the sun on the path! I don’t think that’s a common experience however and we were just very lucky.

I will definitely use Skye Adventure again to try to climb Sgurr Alasdair and other Cuillin mountains - I would highly recommend using them.

We had a fantastic day of coasteering with Matt and Sarah. It was our first time and the children had been nervous to start with but the team made it so much fun that they quickly forgot about being afraid. Would highly recommend this as a brilliant day out. Even though the weather was not that good, we did not feel cold at all once we had all the gear on! It was very professionally run and we would definitely do it again.

My wife and I went out with our 2 kids (7 and 9) for some coastering/gorge walking. The weather helped but it was fantastic. Our guide (Sarah) was ace with the kids. When we initially booked she suggested changing our time slot as there was already a group of teenagers booked in that morning slot and we would be on our own for the whole afternoon. Kids felt comfortable, activities were all safely lead (I'm a PE teacher so feel qualified to say this), 1st aid kit was on hand, instructor was knowledgeable of the water and area and equipment was practically new.
The best part was a long dark cave which narrowed to a corridor which took us out in a secluded cove. It was something the kids will remember for years. A great experience for them.

Excellent climbing experience!
Here our top 3 reasons why we loved it:
1. We were a group of four with the luxury to have three instructors to support and meet all our needs. They were very encouraging and skilled and always made us feel welcomed, safe, supported and comfortable. They gave us great tips and I feel we really learnt a lot!
2. The place chosen for climbing was not only stunning but allowed us to climb different walls, explore different sceneries, and a variety of climbing techniques.
3. We really felt spoiled as they belayed us and prepared/ borrow all the equipment. This gave us more climbing time to really focus on technique and have fun!
Really recommended! Look forward to do it again!

Skye Adventures was a great group to work with, very responsive. We were looking for some outdoor activities for our sons, ages 23 and 19, that they could do together. Did the Coasteering with Sara on one day and outdoor climbing with Eilidh the next day. Both were huge hits, the highlights of the vacation for them! They had only done indoor climbing before, so to be on a Skye beach and climbing cliffs was a spectacular experience for them. Highly recommend working a tour with this outfit into your Skye itinerary, they will ensure you have a memorable time.
