Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song.

It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers.

Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

I'm really in to the music that has come from this building. My husband barely knows who Elvis or Jerry Lee are. Even HE loved Sun Studio because the guide we had was so passionate and energetic and told the stories with such enthusiasm that my music non-appreciating husband came away wanting to know more. Definitely worth heading out to... More

This is definitely worth the trip. We were travelling with an infant and since infants can't go on the tour the staff offered that my partner and I do half not half for free whilst whoever was waiting with the baby got free drink & snacks - what truly amazing customer service! The atmosphere there is tangible & history lines... More

Went to Sun Studio on the advice of Memphis Best Tours. Well worth it. Our guide, Tiffany, was enthusiastic and so knowledgable. We had a wonderful time and learned so much!

This place was fantastic! They put a lot of themselves into it. Sun Studio (especially Nina) know a lot of the history and go out of their way to make you feel a part of it. It was definitely worth the while.

Sun Studio was the most amazing place we visited in Memphis! It had so much character and charm and such incredible history. Our guide, Zach, brought it to life. This is the only place I bought a souvenir in all of Memphis. If I was a local, this would be my favorite place to hang out, just to soak up... More

A small place but so real and still used. Had a fab tour with the guide making it fun and interesting, she really knew how to put it across with interest, if you go to Memphis it's a must.

This a must for all lovers of blues/rock/Elvis music and for all music lovers in general. For $10 you get a guided 40 minute tour by a very enthusiastic guide - the tour is not long in distance just in information, looking at displays and listening to musical examples taken from actual recordings. This is a pioneering iconic studio that... More

My wife and I wanted to take a Globe-Trek BBQ tour of Nashville (where I received my Masters) and Memphis where neither of us had been. Globe-Trek takes care of EVERYTHING, comfortable transportation, ANY food you want at the various restaurants, and great tours of places of local interest. When we were in Memphis, we had an early-morning (they opened... More

Great tour guide. Great Museum. Amazing standing where Elvis, Jerry Lee, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbinson Carl Perkins Bono etc had stood. This is where it all began !! It`s a no brainer - go !!

I loved it. If you know the history it's a must see. If you don't know the history learn it and go. Unless you hate music, then don't go. The amount of talent that walked into that studio is unbelievable. Tour guide was excellent. She really knew her stuff and she put a heartfelt effort into delivering it.
