Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song. It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

The tour meets upstairs in a room with some cool memorabilia where the guide tells some great stories and plays some music. Then you go downstairs to the recording studio which is great to see. I agree with some of the previous reviews that I...More

If you are a true fan of Rock n Roll then Sun Studios is a must. Great history and wonderful original equipment used by the greats! So cool to stand where Elvis stood to record his music.

For your $14 you get a "tour" of the studio which is small. Upstairs there are displays of recording equipment, a neon display, info about Sun's artists and a reproduction of a radio DJ's sound studio. Downstairs is the actual sound recording area for many...More

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Sun Studios. It’s an amazing history of where Rock N Roll was birthed! There are some people that just “do their job”, and others that are obviously passionate about what they do. Lana, was one of those people that...More

If you have any interest at all in music, Sun Studio is a must-see. The entrance is in an old diner where Elvis sat nervously at the front booth waiting his turn during his first recording session. The tour guide then led us through a...More

This was so cool - everything is original - the mike and the tiled walls and guitars on display and a nice big pic of the million dollar quartet. The store was good and had very reasonably priced refreshments while you wait for your tour...More

I'm thinking the reasoning behind no children under 5 could be for several reasons. Sun Studios is extremely small. When we went it was very hard to move around in there. We had to wait for our tour to begin for a few... More

As far as I know, making a recording wasn't an option on the tour. You would probably have to reserve the studio at a different time of the day because it is still used by artists to record.

The coffee shop is on the ground floor and the actual studio can be accessed thru a a door from the outside. The office and memorabilia are on an upper floor which probably is not wheelchair accessible.
