Renovation and renewal have come to this historic street known as the "Home of the Blues." Flashy music clubs and restaurants abound.

Go early stay till you feel you need to go . Most places don't have a cover till later even though there may be someone sitting outside . Look closely some of the best places look like nothing. You can walk freely with your drink...More

We didn't take any formal tour down Beale Street. We walked around some, on our was to Gus's, but that's another review. We stayed nearby and listened to music while in our hotel room.

Get ready for fun. Make sure you have plenty of time, good shoes, dress comfortably and money to stroll and enjoy all there is to see. Take a trolley or bus and sit back and relax.

Beale street is such a vibrant and eclectic small part of Memphis. Lots of history lives here. The music spits are great, but I love love love the street musicians, believe me they play great music. I came Wednesday and there were around 300 motorcycles...More

We visited during the day. Felt safe walking around. Unique, odd stores. Did have a homeless man approach us for money. Spent maybe half hour here, not impressed. Maybe it's different at night. We wouldn't return.

You know the annoying kiosks at malls where people harass you to buy junk you don't want or need? Picture that in front of every restaurant, bar and store. Then add a bunch of panhandlers, con men and drunks and you have Beale Street.

Beale street is fun... when you're out drinking. Walking during the daytime, you may catch one of the bars playing "Walking in Memphis." Otherwise, it's a moderately big area for panhandlers and smells like urine.

We enjoyed this very authentic experience in Memphis. Cool. Not a huge place to wander around in, but lots of great music spewing from the bars.

It's a very short walk from the Peabody Hotel hands-down the nicest hotel in the area. Good food good cocktails and you can watch the Famous Duck March and have a cocktail in the Lobby.

I think Graceland is worth it. You might NOT want the splurge for the VIP tickets that include costumes, gold records, cars and airplanes....the house is both an Elvis tribute and a piece of history....what very wealthy home... More
