Completed in 1290, this is a fine example of a concentric circle, with outer walls serving as a line of defense around a series of inner walls and the main living quarters.

Parking can be an issue at the lot right next to the castle. It's a small lot and you have to be lucky to find a spot. You might want to look for a spot on the street before you get to the town square...More

If you can't park right by the castle, there is an alternative car park nearby. I found the introductory film gave very useful background historical information to the visit. It's worth climbing the turrets and walking round the walls, but take care as the rails...More

Haven't visited this castle for about 12 years. Last time it was very quiet, very windy and a bit run down. This time it was very busy, still very windy but has had a complete make over. Well worth a visit but beware the village...More

Harlech train station is very close to the castle but you do have to walk up a very steep hill! Shouldn't take longer than 10-15 minutes and you can get a delicious ice cream at the top :)

My dog loved it only allowed in the grounds and not on the walls etc. The cafe has outdoor seats with lovely views. Lots of cadw castles allow dogs hope this helps. Enjoy x
