Perfect for a short visit. Largely dedicated to the history of the Monmouth militia and its successor, a reserve Royal Engineers regiment, over 800 years. The the museum is fascinating to anyone with an interest in such things. It covers Agincourt, civil war, various wars...More

The military museum is quite compact but interesting. The gentleman on duty was quite helpful. The castle remains are very few. The signposting is awful - when we did find somewhere to park we then struggled to find the attraction - it was down a...More

Not an awful lot to see but it was very interesting. There are ruins outside the museum as well and a lovely Celtic Cross.

Considering this is a free activity (donations welcome) it's well worth a visit. If you like military history and appreciate it connected to a place then you will enjoy reading the information and seeing the displays.

Even though the castle is little ruin its a big part of the history of the town so just use your imagination. The museum is awesome and brings the last 300 years of military history to life.

There is only a small ruin left and it was a bit disappointing to see. There is a military museum on the grounds but it was close when we visited. From the outside it looks like this would be a great place to visit
