Nestling in a corner of Monmouth, this little old church could easily be overlooked, but please don't. Getting on for 900 years old now, the outside is nothing special but once inside it contains some beautiful treasures.

St. Thomas has a beautiful interior with part of the building dating from around 1180. It has a fine 12th-century Norman chancel arch, and exquisite West door. Well worth a visit

Just down from the Monnow bridge and part of the walk around Monmouth, St Thomas the Martyr church is well worth a look. Interesting both inside and outside.

Some wonderful pieces of work are inside, lovely carvings. The guys who were in there made us very welcome. Even offering tales of long ago.

The St Thomas Church is located close to the Monnow Bridge, on the other side of the river from the town centre and is famous for its nice archway and stained glass.

Although this lovely church is placed on the very edge of a busy market town, it is a haven of peacefulness. Open to the public it is a great place to spend a few moments of quiet contemplation. Someone once told me that 'stones absorb...More
