Plas Cadnant Hidden Gardens have undergone a spectacular transformation and are being restored to their former glory. First laid out in 1804 in the 'picturesque' style of Humphrey Repton, the famous Victorian landscape designer, the gardens had become derelict by 1996. There are 10 acres of gardens, included a 2 acre Walled Garden, fantastic valley gardens packed with unusual and interesting plants, flowering shrubs and trees; river and waterfalls. Home made cakes are served in the traditional Tea Room. Visitor Centre describing the history and restoration of the gardens. In 2015 open 12noon-5pm on Weds/Thurs/Suns in April; Tues/Weds/Thurs/Suns May-Sep; Weds/Suns in October. Pre-booked private group tours by appointment.

I picked up a leaflet about Plas Cadnant whilst on holiday near Caernarfon during Easter 2016 and I was glad that we were able to visit during our minibreak before Easter 2017. The estate and gardens are beautiful. When we arrived we enjoyed scones & tea in the light & airy café. We then made our way through the formal... More

Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed the tea and scones in the tearoom and found the gardens and estate beautiful. Spring is a great time to visit – we currently have some bold bulb displays in the Walled Garden and the bluebells are just starting to come out in the dell. We hope to welcome... More

My first visit today, but certainly not my last. This garden is immaculately kept, and has a contrast between formal areas and natural woodland. A few of the paths in the woods are fairly steep, but there were several folk there today using walking sticks and just taking their time. Lots of places to sit and have a breather. A... More

We stayed in the largest cottage of them all and it was fantastic....Everything was there so we just need needed clothes & it was ready to move straight in. We were even given bread, milk, butter, tea & coffee to get us started. There were 7 of us staying in a cottage that could sleep 12 so plenty of space.... More

Very interesting gardens making the most of the natural surroundings and not "overcultivated"although there is a well designed formal garden at the start of the walk. Some may find access difficult in the more natural areas. The renovation has been sympathetically undertaken and provides a pleasant couple of hours and an inspiration for ambitious gardeners. An excellent cafe is a welcome amenity.

Much flood damage done which they are putting right and does not impact at all on a visit. Really lovely views and walks. Very limited access to those with difficulty in walking. Really is a hidden gem. Only downsize was the cafe. Lovely cakes at a reasonable price. A ham sandwich with a small wilted salad cost £5 plus!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a few hundred yards out of Menai town towards Beaumaris lies Cadnant Gardens. Drive up the track between the trees and then descend into the hidden valley. It has excellent visitor's facilities and then you enter the gardens. The formal gardens are beautiful but the surprise is when you descent the paths, through the woods between beautiful shrubs and... More

First visit to this wonderful garden was by accident ... the previous day's rainfall in the area had caused flooding in the area and the event at Beaumaris Castle was closed because of it.
