One of the most magnificent of Britain's castles is the "birth place of the Tudor Dynasty." You can climb the 80ft Great Keep, descend into a pre-historic cave and look down into a prisoner in a medieval dungeon. There is also a cafe and gift shop. During school holidays there are falconry displays, historic re-enactments and family entertainment. The main exhibition rooms display models and weaponry as well as telling the story of the history of the castle. You can also visit the room that King Henry VII the founder of the Tudor Dynasty was born.

Pembroke castle has an interesting history which you find out about when visiting (but you could also find out about it without visiting). My visit was just in passing and not planned at all. The castle grounds are ok and you can get a few good pictures but for me it needed to be made more interesting and an hour... More

Howard is the most theatrical and passionate guide and is a great host!!! The tour 1 was fantastic and I'd recommend to anyone it's not really that scary but it's great to see the castle at night. Ghost tour 2 was good but I think 1 is popping the post as it was all new to me.

Arrived in Pembroke from the coastal path with a couple of hours to spare and so went to look round the castle - just caught the last guided tour of the day with a very enthusiastic guide who really enjoyed emphasizing all the 'gory' details of siege warfare as well as detailing his personal passion for why Pembroke castle is... Terrific castle with lots of places to explore and plenty of room for children to run around. Information on previous residents provided throughout the castle, the most famous being King Henry VII. Plenty of picnic tables provided near to the café area and seating available throughout the castle grounds.

I joined a guided tour and saw parts of the Castle and learnt things I would never have found out other wise. The Castle is an amazing place to visit and the guided tour is a great way to start.

We have visited relatives in Milford Haven for years and finely got to go the bridge to visit Pembroke Castle this week, entered the Castle just after 10 am and was told the next guided tour was at 11 am, so had a cuppa in the Cafe while we waited. And are we glad we did, Gareth our guide was... More

Excellent experience, truly an indestructible castle of the medieval period. The tour we went on was excellent, full of engaging history and superb knowledge about how the castle has gone through the ages. You get a real sense of English and Welsh history being heavily intertwined and I'd recommend it to all ages. The view from the top of the... More

Originally came to Pembroke castle just to look around, but we were just in time for the guided tour. Our guide was called Howard, and he made what would have been just another walk around a fabulous ruined castle into an interesting and informative visit. Would definitely recommend visiting Pembroke castle and waiting for the guided tour. When we went... More

Visited Monday 24 April 2017 having put 4hours on the car park ticket......not enough. Took tour with Howard at 11.30 who is a Historian, who not only told the story of Pembroke Castle, but stories related to it as well for 1.5 hours, very very interesting. We then explored the castle on our own and also had lunch in the... More

A brilliant day out! The castle is lovely and the free guided tour is well worth doing. Two tour guides split a larger group into two, so our guide, Martin, took the children and parents to see the Cavern, dungeons etc which is more fun for the children. Martin was a fantastic guide, for the whole 1.5 hours didn't stop... More
