- Wendy IRomford, United Kingdom203 contributionsIncredibleWow, what a place, absolutely magnificent. Several altar's, beautiful inside and outside. So much history attached to this cathedral, situated in some lovely grounds. And right next to the ruins of bishops palace.Visited January 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten January 29, 2023
- Maria TIpswich, United Kingdom25 contributionsWell worth a visitVery interesting Cathedral with an unusual sloping nave. Beautiful, make sure you read the information boards and visit the side chapels as well We were there on a Sunday afternoon and as an added bonus heard the organ being played. Very peaceful. Make sure you walk round the exterior as well and along the lanes within the Cathedral outer walls to look at the houses and the orchard. The graveyard outside is on a steep slope. We stopped for a break in the Refectory and enjoyed Welsh Cawl with cheddar and bread followed by Bara Brith.Visited March 2023Written March 14, 2023
- newinn2016Bristol, United Kingdom61 contributionsWorth a visitA beautiful building in a very small village, even though it it is the smallest city in the UK. Certainly worth a visit to this historic building but nothing really in the village. Takes a while to get there but the architecture, windows and building is wonderful. Please make a generous donation if you can. It is free to enter but the curate did ask for a donation if you can as the building takes a great deal of expense for its up keep. Also don't forget to do the tax relief thing if you are a tax payer as it makes such a difference to the donations. Worth a visit/Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten March 30, 2023
- HESLondonLondon, United Kingdom327 contributionsStunning!Drop dead gorgeous cathedral. Small but perfectly formed. A gem of history, politics, religion, art & engineering. Well worth a visit to marvel at the sights & enjoy some quiet contemplation.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten April 18, 2023
- AnaPiussiLondon, United Kingdom1,015 contributionsOutstanding interiorsDefinitely a MUST SEEN. What a beautiful site. The church story it is amazing. Built by St Davys at the VI century. It saw part being destroyed, the reconstructed. The church got excommunicated and so doesn’t receive any government aid being dependently in private donations. The interior it is beautiful. The ceiling called my attention for the perfect details made in wood. Inside you can find the graves from the main Welsh local families from a few centuries. But the most famous tomb it is Edmund Tudor that was Henry VII father’s. A beautiful marble tomb. The location overall it is a beautiful place. The gothic architecture in stone made it is marvellous.Visited April 2023Travelled with friendsWritten May 2, 2023
- LaJarrieSouthampton, United Kingdom465 contributionsA gem of a cathedralTwo years ago, much to our disappointment, Covid restrictions prevented us visiting the cathedral. This year, we were lucky as we could combine a visit with choral evensong an hour later. Not sure which was the most memorable. The cathedral is really special, particularly luminous and the use of light oak helps with this. The various parts of the interior roof spaces were beautiful, as were the detailed mosaics behind the altar. During the choral evensong, the sloping floor of the nave, and the decidedly UNperpendicular pillars seemed somewhat disconcerting, but we reassured ourselves that they’ve been like that for a very long while. The music, the singing and especially the sound of the organ during the service made our visit unforgettable.Visited April 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten May 7, 2023
- DodgetheViperTelford, United Kingdom774 contributionsBeautiful locationA lovely cathedral set on the side of a hill. Well worth a visit. There’s parking about a 5 minute walk away and after you visited the Cathedral it’s just a short walk up the hill to the city centre. The smallest city your ever likely to visit. Only downside for our visit was there was a service underway inside the cathedral so we couldn’t go in.Visited June 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten June 12, 2023
- EmWalesLondon, United Kingdom19 contributionsMoving and beautifulSt. David’s Cathedral is a must visit when in the area, it was deeply moving and beautiful. We took time to do a prayer and took plenty of time to read the history and walk around the Cathedral. The gift shop is really lovely and I feel very blessed to have visited here.Visited July 2023Written July 5, 2023
- tr8v2l3r319 contributionsSuperLong awaited visit, so expectations were high. Pleased to say expectations were met! Stunning inside and out. Friendly people, a £5 donation per person is expected and payable at the entrance. Worth it, to preserve this wonderful piece of Welsh history.Visited July 2023Travelled with friendsWritten July 10, 2023
- FamilySudsMarket Harborough, United Kingdom68 contributionsA must seeLovely afternoon spent walking around the Cathedral. So much history, so much to see. We were fortunate to visit when the library was open as it is only open twice a week. The librarian, was so kind to show books from the 17th century to teen daughter, who is about to start GCSE History. Great cafe on site.Visited July 2023Written July 18, 2023

My eldest child had been to St Davids on a School trip and has not stopped talking about going again. We decided to visit and we were not disappointed. The building itself is amazing. The ceilings are amazing and history is fascinating. Definitely worth a visit.

Beautiful cathedral. Very light and airy; gorgeous wood everywhere and it's age is at odds with it's modern feel.
The staff were really friendly and helpful and there was plenty of information around the cathedral. Interesting cloisters and statue.
Our only disappointment was the lack of catering - this was not mentioned on the website and actually created a problem for us personally.
Thorughly enjoyed our visit.

Have been to many Cathedrals and this one was so sad!
Felt very sad and stark, feel like the welcoming could have been inspiring not many artefacts on display and felt very sad

A magnificent historical building in a wonderful location. The only downside of our visit was that we only had a short time to visit as the staff closed the building for wedding. What we did see was magnificent architecture from the different periods in which the cathedral was constructed.

This Cathedral is one of the treasures of Wales, if not Britain. The history contained within its walls and the architecture is a must see.

A stunning cathedral as one would expect in the tiny city of St David's. Very impressive as you approach from the centre looking down on it, with the ruins alongside as well. A sizable structure as well and fabulous on the inside with amazing colours of stonework, stained glass windows and timber ceilings. Beautifully maintained and no formal charge to enter, but well worth a donation.
Glad we visited and highly recommended.

Stunning cathedral, well worth the visit with the palace ruins adjacent. Walked our Dogues around a small trail around the perimeter walls. Small stream for them to cool off in on this trail.

Hi Curiosity. I live in New Zealand and expect that as Remembrance Day is 11 November it will be the same at St David's Cathedral as it is for us, at 11:00am on 11 November. You may have to check with the website.

Is there a car park where I can walk to the cathedral on a flat path as I suffer with asthma.
