Our birding adventure with RAJ tours was beyond excellent!!! Woldy drove us in his air-conditioned van that we felt very comfortable and safe in. Deceita and Tashia's birding skills were on a par with anything that we have seen in operation anywhere in the world. Not only were they experts in finding birds by call but their knowledge of the history and culture of Jamaica seemed almost limitless. My husband is not a birder but is an outdoor enthusiast, I was a professional ornithologist for my whole career, they satisfied both of our interests. And the fact that they picked us up in Negril and drove us to Bluefields was super deluxe eliminating the stress of having to rent a car and drive ourselves. This is the second time I've gone birding with Deceita and she again completely impressed me. The RAJ team "spend countless hours dedicated to the preservation of natural resources in the area, and ensuring the community has access to basic needs such as water, shelter, education, food and jobs." The perfect combination of effort and passion.

My wife, son, and I booked a one day trip with Wolde and his team. What had an outstanding experience!!! My wife and son and not birdwatchers, I'm hard core. Wolde made all of us feel comfortable and had a great time. We did a one day trip from Negril to Bluefields and back and racked up every possible endemic for this area, RAJ has the tour route down to an art. The lunch of award-winning jerk chicken was a nice bonus. Wolde does a huge amount of conservation work in the country and should be highly commended for that work as well. We all give our highest possible recommendation to RAJ, Wolde, and the tour that we took.

Two (novice and experienced) couples, we joined Wolde and Destina, both extremely knowledgeable birding guides with amazingly sharp eyes, spot things like a frog mouth (Potoo) that we were just blown away that they could spot. We saw a bunch of life-birds and wonderful endemics... also they took us to a wonderful lunch (the best red snapper Ihave ever had) at a restaurant while we looked at a flock of blue herons, magnificent frigates, pelicans ruddy turnstones. Highlights: The Potoo of course, red beaked streamer tail, Jamaican mango, chestnut breasted cockatoo, Caribbean and common ground doves, Arrowhead warbler.. lots more. Suffice it to say they will do their best to help you find all of the endemics plus more. They are not only great with sightings but also identifying what birds are all behind all those songs. I can't praise this experience and the guides enough!!!!!

My wife and I did a five night/six day tour with RAJ. It exceeded our expectations. Both of our guides (Veda and Deceda) were excellent. Our driver (Dion) was very competent and also had an extremely good eye for finding the birds. We concentrated in the southern portion of the island and then in the Port Antonio region. The pace of the trip was just right (i.e. not to fanatic nor to laid back). We managed to see all but one (Crested Quail-dove) of Jamaica's endemic species as well as a number of regional endemics. All sightings of the endemics were quality with us having ample time to observe the birds and see their field characteristics. I would highly recommend this trip for anyone interested in birding for the endemics.

I took part in a 6-day birding tour with Reliable Adventures Jamaica in March, 2014. It was a wonderful experience! Our guide, Veda, managed to show us all 28 endemic species, and many more. We covered a lot of terrain, but made frequent rest stops (and indulged in lots of fresh, local fruit along the way!) Veda was extremely helpful and attentive. She made sure that everyone saw the birds clearly. Her son, Dion, was our driver and provided excellent service. We were well supplied with drinking water, snacks and insect repellent. It was a memorable trip! From mountains to marshes, RAJ shows you a Jamaica that few tourists get to see.

In March of 2014, I took a 6 day birding tour of Jamaica with RAJ [Reliable Adventures Jamaica]. It was simply wonderful! Our leader, Veda, was extraordinarily skilled at locating the birds and making sure that everyone had a good look at each bird. All endemics were located and well seen. Veda was also attentive to all administrative details and very aware of the well-being of each guest. And, of course, traveling with a local guide, we got to go to the best jerk restaurants and eat at small spots along the coast where there were no other tourists. I highly recommend RAJ for a birding trip to Jamaica

There were 3 of us on this tour with two guides--Veda and Wolde. They knew where the birds were and how to find them. We got great views of all of the endemics but two. All of the arrangements were made for us. We stayed in nice guest houses and smaller beach hotels. During the 6 days we saw a total 97 different birds, orchards, butterflies, lizards, and crocodiles. Also plenty of goats.

There are a lot of interesting birds in Jamaica, and the folks at RAJ Tours (www.birdingjamaica.com) a good at showing them off. We spent two days with Wolde and Veda, two excellent bird guides from the Bluefields area. You don't have to be an intense birder to enjoy a trip with them. There is a lot to learn from them, about the natural history of the area, conservation and cultural issues. We had a great time.
