Creswick Woollen Mills’ is the perfect destination for day-trippers, holiday makers and tour groups, both large and small. The mills’ tourism experience “A Very Fine Yarn” showcases the journey of fibre; all the way from its source on the alpaca, through the manufacturing process and how it ends up on the shop shelf. The exhibit gives a great insight into natural fibre, how luxurious fibres are processed and gives visitors a chance to see Australian manufacturing as it happens. As part of the journey an extensive, interactive experience allows the visitor to learn interesting and curious facts dating make to the mill’s creation. Visitors have the chance to meet our resident alpacas and purchase products made right at the mill.

Old wool making machinery was good to walk through and also current spinning machines were in operation which were interesting. Given a good idea of the history of the mill and the family. The shop has a good selection of clothes and bed coverings. Quality products generally so not cheap. Planned to eat lunch there as food was advertised. On... More

Creswick Woollen Mills is an interesting place to drop in and buy some very good quality woven products using fibres from various animals. Alpacas are the main stay with quality merino wool products too. We purchased a very fine, soft possum scarf. There's also some quality imported clothes you don't see much elsewhere any more. Tours are available and seem... More

7 year old and I did the self-guided tour and touched everything. It was very informative and interesting. Then we made our way into the extensive shop where there was so much to see - they make a lot of things here that you see in shops around Australia. After making a few purchases (you can't resist) we headed out... More

We couldn't leave without buying a beautifully soft possum scarfe and alpaca throw. Recommend visiting.

They sell the most beautiful clothes, scarves, gloves, other garments, rugs, jumpers. I live in Qld so I can't justify purchasing the garments, I would though if I lived in the colder climate. We also liked that we could feed and pet some of their animals. Worth the visit.

Creswick is an iconic wool mill, like onkaparinga. There are not too many Australian owned mills left.(which is a pity) The display is informative and interesting. The shop has Australian wool products and the staff knowledgable and friendly. The coffee shop is run by a friendly local who makes a nice coffee. Nice tasty snacks availableas well. You must visit and... More

Arrived at 10:50am and they were about to shave one of the alpacas. Very interesting to watch! Funny how the other alpacas watched their friend with so much concern. After that we walked though the shop, bought a warm scarf. A lot of their things are lovely and so warm, but of course you have to pay for quality! Definitely... More
