An amazing array of maritime artifacts and displays, would not be out of place in any major city museum. This includes in the main entry area, cannons, a Breeches Buoy, and RAAF Crash Boat. You will also find a fully fitted out Communications and Navigation room, Shipwreck Alley displaying items from the “Clonmel” and other wrecks, a display of gold... More

There is an excellent collection of maritime paraphernalia of all kinds. Early navigation equipment through to the start of GPS navigation. Interesting to see how large the early GPS were. The early rescuer equipment like the rocket system that can send a rope 300+m out to a boat in distress is also very interesting. Don't miss the outdoor display.

Fascinating little museum full of interesting bits and bobs of early history of Port Albert and the district of Gippsland. Learn about whaling, gold rush days, Chinese market gardens, shipwrecks and more. The Port Albert Maritime Museum is open daily from 1 September to 31 May inclusive, 10.00am - 4.00pm. From 1 June to 31 August it is open only... More

You can spend a few hours in the history museum looking at all the areas of time. the museum is situated in the original bank building where all the gold from Walhalla was shipped from , up to 1000oz per day. The history going back to the original settlement in 1843 was quite informative and most interesting...

Saw a lot of history of the Gippsland ports and life in the early Gippsland times. Very interesting displays of lighthouse equipment.

Check their opening hours before making it a destination cuz it's a bit of a drive for just the museum. It IS in the heart of the beautiful wharf area where you can fish and picnic. Wild Fish restaurant is also great.

A great museum, in what was the old bank! Really cool building. The admission fee is really reasonable, they have a lot of great items inside, with a little courtyard at the back, very nice. Really worth a visit!

We thought this would have been one of those hick little local museums but this one is really good. Packed full of interesting things and not just junk. Well laid out. Could spend a lot of time in there.
