$10 per car load. Gates close at 5pm. we didn't go in the café or climb the rock as it was late. But did go in the visitor centre which was informative, and did see kangaroos.

The view on top of hanging rock is a beautiful to just sit and rilex facing the mount macedon landscape with its winery. It required light climbing in between the rocks, fun experience, accompany by local animal such as birds and koala if we lucky. Just one hour drive from melbourne, with paid entrance to this place, spend a wonderful... More

Just got back from there, really enjoyed it. Quite spectacular to look at, easy enough to climb. Lots of areas to BBQ and sit down to eat. Also have a cafe on site if you want to buy food/coffee. Highly recommend it.

Only a short trip from Melbourne. Big area for Barbecues but get there early otherwise you will not get a place to have a picnic. The climb to the rock is fairly steep. The Rock itself is ok, but there is very little signage so it is easy to get lost when descending. The view from atop the Rock is... More

Went there in April 2017 with my wife. Very nice views from the summit as well as on the way to the top. Very good exercise too.

You gain access to the reserve through a barrier which is then replaced with large, metal gates when the reserve is closed - so access for sunrise or sunset would be very hard. Once inside, there is ample parking, picnic areas, a cafe and information centre with details in the rock, the missing schoolgirls, film and book. Buy a $10... More

The concrete path to nearly the top is great for pushers or people with limited mobility and actually doesn't distract from the beauty of the place. Its a magic place, you could easily get lost amongst the boulders. Keep your eye out for Kangaroos, one was lounging just infront of the café and have a drive along the country roads... More

Always wanted to visit this iconic Australian location and wasn't disappointed. The short climb from the visitor center revealed stunning views of the countryside, and spectacular rock formations. As an added bonus, they were filming the remake of Picnic at Hanging Rock whilst we were there.

Hanging rock is a great place to visit whether this to be to climb the rock or relax in the park itself. I am a local but have not visited Hanging Rock for about 5 years. To visit is easy enough but getting out the gate you are required to pay for a ticket which is currently $10 per car.... More
