We were pleasantly surprised by The Hermitage. I have never been interested in history, but this visit was educational and intriguing. The grounds are beautiful and you can go at your own pace.

We toured The Hermitage a week ago and were shocked by how much we enjoyed the morning there. The Hermitage is probably 15-20 from downtown Nashville, just northwest of town. One on the grounds, you'll have the chance to go through and very thorough Museum,...More

This is entertaining education. Please go and appreciate the man and the times. Lovely historical site. Good cafe and excellent gift shop. Easy to get too. Must do this. Price is very reasonable.

I don't normally pay to visit these historical places but made an exception this time. It was $20 to enter but it included an audio handset (leave ID as security) and after a short movie about Andrew Jackson and his legacy you are free to...More

This is a lovely place to visit. I paid the $8 for the audio upgrade and my boyfriend did not. His audio device had a headphone jack so he plugged them in. The only difference between the devices once he added his own headset was...More

Andrew Jackson's Hermitage located not too far from downtown Nashville is the home President Andrew Jackson, the 7th POTUS, and quite possibly, the first populist president. In 1960, Andrew Jackson's Hermitage became a National Historic Landmark and in 1966 it was added to the National...More

The Hermitage was certainly a unique experience. From the house to the grounds, it was like nothing I had seen before. The estate of the hermitage is quite large, I believe the largest based off of what the docents had said. There are several outbuildings,...More

Get the audio guide for sure, as some of the grounds have interesting facts or stories you might not find on the signs. Also, be sure to make time for the exhibits before entering the house to get a sense of Jackson's life before retirement.

They sell beverages at several locations so no need to pack your own. The length of the walk is up to you. For just the house and gardens probably less than 1 1/4 miles. Is tour all of the hounds maybe 3 miles?
