Just 10 miles south of Bandera this area lets you get out and see the Hill Country. Most of the surrounding area is private land. Trails are numerous and there are bathrooms and a nice picnic area. There is an entrance fee.

Tawny with Outlaw Outfitters was our guide on our 3 hour horse ride through Hill Country State Natural Area and she made this excursion PHENOMENAL! We traveled over all types of terrain on the horses...up and down hills with 360 views....absolutely amazing! Tawny was patient, provided cold drinks and snacks during the ride, and was so much fun to talk... More

The Hill Country State Natural Area is more than we could do in one day of hiking. Beautiful countryside with magnificent vistas. Trails are well maintained, staff friendly and helpful. We will be back!

The park rangers were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. I was hiking by myself so they asked were I planned to hike so they could keep an eye on my time. I felt reassured and thankful to know they cared for my safety! I got in a great hike!

This was my second year to participate in the Bandera Trail Run by Tejas Trails. The staff/rangers work hard and the land is beautiful. Get outside here!

I'm from the East Coast so this is definitely not the same in terms of views and trees but it was relaxing and captured the Texas landscape. I love live oaks and they were everywhere. There is a river and a couple of nice overlooks. It seems to be a big destination for horse back riding. The historical ranch place... More

I enjoyed a trip all the way through this Natural Area! It's quiet, beautiful, and fun for an afternoon drive along the dirt roads.
