The falls was beautiful. The trip there was a little scary. 😟 There was a heavy rain the night before so the road to the falls was slick clay with some slimy ruts. After we made it to the "parking" lot the trail to the falls was on a steep not well maintained stairway. The falls is beautiful and worth the adventure to get there. It is used as a swimming hole so be prepared if you plan to get pictures.

We walked from Blancaneaux Lodge - a beautiful hike - bring a hat and lots of water.
The hike is not for the faint hearted, the stairs going down are steep - but the waterfall is amazing and the pools are so wonderful and refreshing.

hot even by the middle of the day and don't try it if it's been raining.

This place was stunning and made for a wonderful swim on a hot afternoon. We were just about the only people there, which made for an even more serene experience.
A heads up that this is not incredibly easy to get to (bumpy road, lots of stairs down to the water) but it's absolutely worth it!

This location was absolutely stunning! We took our young kids, ages 7 & 9, and they were totally able to handle the trek down and back up the stairs. The hike was totally worth it - the falls were stunning and it was so fun to take a dip in the pools. We stayed about an hour. Out of San Ignacio, the road to the Falls is a brand new highway, although the last couple of miles are unpaved and kind of tricky - not too much for our two wheel drive small SUV. There are no services so bring your own snacks and water, and be prepared to change at your car :) Highly recommend!

We visited here today and it was a really pretty falls but please please be aware that the stepped path down is pretty treacherous and the rocks towards the falls super slippery.

Our guide Edwin from Edwin’s Adventure Tours was very clear with us ahead of time so we had good footwear and we’re very glad we did as it rained when we visited.

Lovely view and cool falls worth a visit - we combined it with Rio On Pools which made for a lovely afternoon - thanks Edwin for suggesting

We made the long hike to the waterfall, but it was definitely worth it once we arrived. We swam over to the waterfall itself for a photo.

Big rock falls was a beautiful waterfall with large deeps pools that you can swim around in and a great view. However getting there is a bit of a journey, first you have to travel down a long bumpy dirt road and then park in a small parking spot. Then you have to walk for about two minutes to the top of the stairs which are quite steep and rickety. Getting down the stairs doesn’t take too long but be carful not to fall. Once you are there, it is quite nice to swim in but if you are planning to jump off the rocks into the water be very carful, a lot of people were slipping off the rocks and someone almost got very hurt. I would say stick to just swimming in the pools if you want to play it safe.

Depending how you get to the area above the falls you may or may not have the strength to climb down, travel over the boulders (with no supports), swim in the pool and climb back up the couple of hundred or so ricketty stairs.

We took the 45 minute hike from blancaneaux lodge and enjoyed both the journey and the destination. It's hard (I think) to go in the water because the rocks are slippery, but it's very pretty.
