wonderful trail, easy to climb even with a five year old. Always bring your water, camera and a good walking stick.

The house and surrounding grounds are very well worth an hour and a half visit. Charles Goodnight operated the famous JA ranch until the death of his English partner. He built a simple prairie and canyon into a massive cattle empire. He promised his wife a fine house. The house became known as the castle on the pains. The house... More

Lots of history of the Texas Panhandle, cattle, ranching oil. Don't for get to bring your "wild rag" (neckerchief) stop by the town of Goodnight Graveyard and leave you wild rag as a tribute to Charles Goodnight on the fence with the hundreds of others.
