I wish we had more time to spend here. The proprietor Lewis has such a passion for his wines and gave such great detail to each varietal! The ambience gave you a very relaxing feel and we could have spent hours there. I so loved the wines and look forward to returning when I come back to the area! Cheers... More

Interesting facilities constructed using local materials and the owner/proprietor is an interesting conversationalist. He provided a lot of information about his wines and property. But it's quite expensive ) in comparison with the numerous other Texas wineries. Tastings are $15 and bottles were mostly $40 and up. Our palates aren't sophisticated enough to where we could appreciate the difference. Your... More

Lewis Dickson's organically produced wines and tasting room are nothing short of fantastic. It is a hidden treasure in Startzville that brings out the best of Hill Country terroir. My wife and I brought a case of La Cruz de Comal and Dickson wines home, and when offering it to friends, we've had number of them take a sip, give... More

I have traveled the world visiting various wine regions. I have tried pretty much all of the Texas wines. I cannot say enough positive words for the La Cruz de Comal Wines. The wines are absolutely delish! Fresh, clean, fruity, lingering finishes.... The proprietor was engaging, answered all the questions about his various wines. Wonderful experience. I'm a red wine... Louis Dixon is not only a very interesting man but he has studied the old world country and it shows up in his wine making, his cooking, and finally the estate he has built....His winery is but a few years old compared to those in the wine country of France or Italy but he has studied their style and believes... This is a very nice hill country setting. The vineyards are right next to tasting area which sets the tone for sipping the wines. But, they charge too much for their tastings, and we did not think the wines were that good compared to others in hill country; for our taste. They are also only open on weekends.

My favorite weekend activity is touring wineries around Texas. Last weekend, I took a trip to Gruene, just to get away for a couple days, and stumbled onto this little gem hidden away in Canyon Lake. The winery itself is extremely well appointed, with the tasting room/building constructed completely out of materials gleaned from the winery land. A very upscale... More

The winery is easy to pass if you aren't looking for it. When you drive down the steep driveway you see a beautiful vineyard with an amazing tasting house. The house was beautifully built from cedar and stone from the property, a plus in my book. Lewis is a friendly and extremely knowledgeable fellow who is very passionate about what... More

Very different style of wine. Surprisingly very busy for a place that doesn't advertise. Very small production, but the wine maker Lewis was extremely passionate about this work.
