We went specifically to see the temporary Mexican Art, 1900-1950, exhibit and it was outstanding. There was also a good Pre-Columbian collection.

The Dallas Museum of Art is a treasure. It is not so large as to require the visitor to limit oneself to a specific period of art, yet its holdings are broad in scope and allow visitors to spend an afternoon in one period of time or to acquire a good sense of all it has to offer. We chose... More

We happened to go on a free Sunday, sponsored by bank of america. Wonderful experience. We saw a truly remarkable exhibition on Mexican art (Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, etc.). It was beautifully contextualized and quite extensive. The permanent collection was also impressive and well displayed. On this particular day the atmosphere was very festive--mariachi band, lots of families. It was... More

There is a lot to see and lines can be long during family days. Take your comfy shoes and recommend the kids are hydrated and not hungry since no food allowed in the exhibits. You can check your back packs to make it a bit easier. Really enjoyed the Mexico exhibit featuring Frida Kalo and Diego Rivera.

There are some interesting and notable pieces in this museum...Picasso, Monet, Gauguin with exhibits of art from around the world. It's also free which is a huge plus. The only drawback is that the layout is slightly confusing. I would recommend a visit!

Glad I got to stop by here. It shows pretty well and got to see some of my favorite works! They had great options for dining in and outside the museum with the trucks. I would love to come back here when I visit Dallas.

So impressed with this collection. Wonderful Impressionist works and representative art from all major periods. The building is great to negotiate and the food trucks in the park outside were an exta bonus.
