The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers...

The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers fun, educational and entertaining experiences for the whole family. The Zoo's mission is to inspire a passion for nature and conserve wildlife, and guests can see a number of endangered species and learn about a variety of conservation projects the Dallas Zoo supports. Opened in 2010, our award-winning Giants of the Savanna habitat is internationally known. The savanna features elephants, ostrich, zebras, impalas, giraffes, and guineafowl, often mingling together. The Dallas Zoo is home to a herd of five female elephants and 11 giraffes, which guests can feed by hand. Guests will see the fastest land mammal on Earth, the cheetah, as well as African lions who often spend their days sleeping just inches away from the viewing wall inside the Serengeti Grill restaurant. The Wilds of Africa area features rare animals such as gorillas, chimpanzees and okapi. Guests will enjoy getting eye-to-eye with African penguins as they swim effortlessly underwater. Highlights of the ZooNorth section include the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo, a top-rated reptile and amphibian complex featuring albino alligators, and the Koala Walkabout, featuring the only koalas in Texas, red kangaroo, wallabies, and a lorikeet feeding area for up-close adventures. For alternative transportation to the Dallas Zoo, consider the DART Red Line, which delivers guests to the Zoo's front entrance.

We have an annual membership, and love going there with the family. It is an older zoo, but there have been plenty of additions and renovations. I love the Giants of the Savannah area. The bird show is also cool.

My fiancé, his brother and I took my 4 year old son here for a day and we loved our experience. The zookeepers clearly love the animals, as the few we talked to knew so much about the individual animals and not just the species as a whole. During the demonstrations, they teach you about their efforts to save the... More

We were so excited to take the kids here and ended up leaving early. Not much for them to see when the exhibits walls are to tall for them to see in a stroller. Animals were all laying down or hiding.

Surprised by how large the zoo is based on its location less than 10 min from downtown Dallas. My hat is off to whoever did the design layout. I uses 2 or more city bridges that are incorporated into the park. One basically serves and the entry way into the park and you don't realize it until you hear the... More

At first I thought it was a mistake going because of all the school groups. The WIld African section was great. Viewing is set up to see animals in natural settings large glass viewing ares or walk over bridges. A good amount of walking.

This is a great zoo, we came from Australia and we have a few good zoos there but this one is great! It's not too big but so much to see. You are able to feed the giraffes for $5 which is the most amazing experience!!

This zoo is well maintained and has a great variety of animals. It lacks the chaos and overcrowding of Ft Worth and has habitats where you can enjoy all kinds of animal and a fun kids area.

Dallas is a big town but they have a small zoo and not very updated. The Fort Worth Zoo was much better.
