The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers...

The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers fun, educational and entertaining experiences for the whole family. The Zoo's mission is to inspire a passion for nature and conserve wildlife, and guests can see a number of endangered species and learn about a variety of conservation projects the Dallas Zoo supports. Opened in 2010, our award-winning Giants of the Savanna habitat is internationally known. The savanna features elephants, ostrich, zebras, impalas, giraffes, and guineafowl, often mingling together. The Dallas Zoo is home to a herd of five female elephants and 11 giraffes, which guests can feed by hand. Guests will see the fastest land mammal on Earth, the cheetah, as well as African lions who often spend their days sleeping just inches away from the viewing wall inside the Serengeti Grill restaurant. The Wilds of Africa area features rare animals such as gorillas, chimpanzees and okapi. Guests will enjoy getting eye-to-eye with African penguins as they swim effortlessly underwater. Highlights of the ZooNorth section include the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo, a top-rated reptile and amphibian complex featuring albino alligators, and the Koala Walkabout, featuring the only koalas in Texas, red kangaroo, wallabies, and a lorikeet feeding area for up-close adventures. For alternative transportation to the Dallas Zoo, consider the DART Red Line, which delivers guests to the Zoo's front entrance.

We visited Dallas Zoo quite early in the day (not long after it opened at 9am) to allow ourselves plenty of time to walk around. It wasn't particularly busy, which may have been due to the early start as well as it being in the week. Many of the animals were not out yet so there are quite a few... More

Great zoo. Tons of stuff to see and easy to walk around. One of the larger zoos we've been to in the States.

We love our visits to the zoo. My kids love talking to zoo keepers on education days, but they also love going into the petting zoo area, seeing the elephants, and feeding the giraffes. I love how well laid out the zoo is so it never feels crowded, and you get the feeling that the animals are happy in their... More

I visited this park with my daughter, her friend and my sister. Be prepared to walk because the property is large but really well laid out. We spent 3 hours here and not because of the amount of people on the day we visited. We took out time and enjoyed each exhibit. The map was easy to follow. Africa was... More

We arrived after noon and were afraid there wasn't enough time to see it all, but thanks to a good layout it was easy! There's 2 parts to the zoo: North and Africa. Each one is laid out in a loop and provides multiple viewing points for each animal. There's multiple informational talks and the kids area was a hit!

This is a large zoo with a great variety of animals. Walking is pleasant and the food places are good. Visit a gift shop and take home a souvenir.

Had a wonderful time with our family, especially our 2 yr old granddaughter. It was a little disappointed because some of the animals were not making any appearances but I think it would have been better if we went earlier in the day. What we did see was great! The family had fun. Loved the Lego exhibits. Purchase a souvenir... More
