The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers...

The largest zoological experience in Texas, the 106-acre Dallas Zoo offers fun, educational and entertaining experiences for the whole family. The Zoo's mission is to inspire a passion for nature and conserve wildlife, and guests can see a number of endangered species and learn about a variety of conservation projects the Dallas Zoo supports. Opened in 2010, our award-winning Giants of the Savanna habitat is internationally known. The savanna features elephants, ostrich, zebras, impalas, giraffes, and guineafowl, often mingling together. The Dallas Zoo is home to a herd of five female elephants and 11 giraffes, which guests can feed by hand. Guests will see the fastest land mammal on Earth, the cheetah, as well as African lions who often spend their days sleeping just inches away from the viewing wall inside the Serengeti Grill restaurant. The Wilds of Africa area features rare animals such as gorillas, chimpanzees and okapi. Guests will enjoy getting eye-to-eye with African penguins as they swim effortlessly underwater. Highlights of the ZooNorth section include the Lacerte Family Children's Zoo, a top-rated reptile and amphibian complex featuring albino alligators, and the Koala Walkabout, featuring the only koalas in Texas, red kangaroo, wallabies, and a lorikeet feeding area for up-close adventures. For alternative transportation to the Dallas Zoo, consider the DART Red Line, which delivers guests to the Zoo's front entrance.

Rode rhe DART to the zoo

We had a great time at this zoo. We coincidentally went on penguin days so admission was five dollars for each person! The kids loved the children's zoo and the African exhibits.

It was a mediocre experience. Maybe it was due to the weather (muggy) but the animals didn't come out and they had very few attractions. Although we did get there 1 hr before close , I would have still expected to see more action. It's a zoo! Would not waste my time again.

We went here but didnt realize they closed at 4. We got there at 330PM, but were able to stay in the park till about 5 so that was awesome! Its a great experience, lots of animals. Their Safari exhibit was the best! A must see! Grab a CityPass while you're here to check out other popular attractions!

I am a 35 year old male with no kids. I don't care much to go to zoo's lol... but I went with my girlfriend and because she wanted to go and I had a great time. This zoo is good. What I really liked most was the giraffes actually come over to you and you can pet them and... More

A nice zoo to visit while traveling in Dallas. The zoo was very clean and had a nice variety of animals. The price was reasonable and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Children had the opportunity to visit various areas throughout the zoo. Many enjoyed the dinosaur exhibits.

I was impressed by this zoo. While I have a much larger zoo in Chicago literally in my backyard, this zoo had a great display of animals and the grounds were landscaped wonderfully. I especially enjoyed the gorilla and enjoyed how close I was able to get to these magnificent animals. I went on an overcast cool day with occasional... More

Had a good trip, but wished there was more to do on the day we went. There needs to be more interactions with the staff and the kids. My teen would love to know more about the animals, but no one would really talk. We loved the hands on experience at the giraffe exhibit and the knowledgeable staff there.

Of course in north Texas, the fort Worth zoo gets all three attention. Dallas had a similar quantity of animals on display, the difference is that while the fort Worth zoo will have the endangered green mamba, the Dallas zoo will have the non-endangered black mamba. The Dallas zoo also had a lot more shade, so if you're here in... More
