We went in because I read about the old Carnegie library in Dallas and was hoping to get some information on it, or see the cornerstone from the original building, and sadly no one knew what we were talking about. We made it to the...More

This is a wonderful library with extensive resources. The last time I went was to do research on several rather obscure historical places in Texas and the staff on the 7th floor research were extremely helpful, knowledgeable and friendly. They were able to find everything...More

This is a great service to the community and the library has some great programs. Many floors to choose from and, of course, much information to share. The one big issue is the hosts of homeless people who tend to use it as their living...More

I came to this library to do Genealogy research. It was fantastic. They had so much stuff, and I had such little time. With that being said... The library is very outdated. I felt like I was walking into 1975. For some reason, they put...More

Volunteers from the Dallas Genealogical Society are often on hand to help library staff answer questions about the collection. The collection (covering Texas,...More

As a visitor to Dallas, I would say my experience was VERY disappointing! The library's 7th floor is undergoing renovations, so the much touted Declaration of Independence WAS NOT on display. When making our itinerary of "must see" while in Dallas, for our family this...More

I am a Dallas native, and a big fan of our Dallas Library. It's easy to request books and CD's online, and check them out at your local branch with your library card. Sometimes there is a wait for delivery, but it is worth it,...More

We are so lucky to have this excellent library right downtown close to public transportation, near a few good restaurants if you need a break and extensive section of loanable A/V items to save you the money of purchasing same.
