A must for Civil War Buffs. The museum is laid out with separate artifacts from the union and confederate armies. The weaponry display was impressive. Seeing the different uniforms was informative. As always, I continue to add to my knowledge of the civil war each...More

Really enjoyed my visit to this museum. They have an incredible collection of Civil War articles. The collection includes clothing (Union and Confederate uniforms). They even have a coat worn by Ulysses S. Grant and a pocket knife carried by Robert E. Lee. They have...More

Gone With the Wind--seen it at least 25 times and recite the words. That hat is amazing and never once did I see the chicken's feet on it in the movie. With our Lee, Grant, Davis, JEB, Butler, McClellan, Banks, Shelby items along with the...More

Hardly a word on the causes of the war. 'Sectional differences' were mentioned. Texas boys responded to the call to arms, fought well, and returned home, having demonstrated their honor, to develop a great state. Other than that there is a fine collection of uniforms,...More

Thank your for visiting the museum. The movie is indeed from the perspective of the Texans who lived in Texas before, during and after the Civil War. Our collections are displayed from the three collections that are housed here. One is only military, one is...More

We visited the Texas Civil War Museum the largest Civil War Museum West of the Mississippi today with three young children. We found the exhibits to be accessible and objective ranging from dioramas to flags to weaponry and thoroughly enjoyed the presentations. The movie about...More

This is a gem of a Civil War museum! I'm a CW buff and totally enjoyed this place! So much to look at! It's bigger than people make it out to be and tons of artifacts and relics to see! I loved all the 1860-1890s...More

We love to hear when our visitors have thought enough of us to post a review. So glad you enjoyed your visit. Indeed, people write it is a small museum, yet fail to say there are thousands of items on display and no one gets...More

Short movie very good, collection surprisingly good, had things I had never seen before like medals which are very rare, especially Confederate.

This museum could indeed be called serendipity. Glad you were able to visit and hope you will again.

I know this cute museum is put together from a Texan point of view, but I think it's disrespectful to America's history not to include slavery as one of the most important factors of this war. Although nicely put, it doesn't make sense to have...More

I hear your concern and wished we had a collection to exhibit about slavery and even one on the politicians. Our museum is made up of 3 individual collections. One only contains military, one only contains Texas WBTS, and one only contains dresses. If you...More

It's not big but then again there were very little action in Texas during the civil war which is why we went. We didn't think anything happened in Texas, we were wrong. Really enjoyed being educated on Texas and the civil war. The ladies dresses...More

We appreciate your taking the time to review us and we love to hear our mission of educating guests was fullfilled. Which dress was the girls' favorite? That is the toughest question we ask in the museum.

An unexpected surprise in Fort Worth. A very interesting Museum, with a surprising number of quality artifacts. My husband, a Civil War junkie, loved the well laid out and interesting Civil War memorabilia. I really enjoyed the vintage dress Museum. Such interesting dresses and such...More

So glad you were able to visit. The average 19th lady just had one nice dress--I always wonder which our visitors would pick. We hope you will be able to visit again.

I am so sorry as I did not see the question until now. Allow 2 hours if you have a general interest in the war. If you are really interested in the period allow 4.
