This very simple place offers an insight into how the first settlers to the Fredericksburg area came and lived. At just $5 to enter it's an hour well spent.

The museum is set up to give you some very good insight into what life was like around Fredericksburg back in the mid 1850's. It's not the typical museum in that it consists of several small buildings (homes, shops, barns, etc.) that have been restored...More

This was a really interesting self guided tour that told the story of the first settlers in Fredericksburg. While the restored buildings and contents were interesting it was the narrated details that really brought the experience to life. It was a pleasure to visit and...More

This was a terrific way to learn the local history of this community. Make sure you see the video. The buildings are packed with history and the way the audio narrates what happened in them is quite enjoyable. The staff was very eager to help...More

Lots of historical buildings, most moved onto the site. I was welcomed by a friendly hostess and paid the small admission. The short video was well worth it and set the stage for viewing the buildings in context. A neat touch was hearing actual descendants...More

My great-grandfather was an early settler of Fredericksburg in 1846. The video and exhibits give a very good feeling for what life must have been like for the first German settlers who arrived in the mid-19th Century.
