n 2011 Messina Hof Hill Country Winery opened its doors in Fredericksburg, the second largest wine tourism destination in the country. Sitting on nearly 10 acres in the heart of Texas wine country along Highway 290, this winery also has its own vineyard. The Lenoir grapes grown at this location go into the making of more traditional style ports.

Really pretty place, great tasting room where you could sit if you would like to. Reasonable price for tasting, $10 for 5. Huge selection of wines to try in all different categories. The sparkling almond was very nice and different, never having seen that anywhere....More

They only do 3 public tours all weekend, but I'd recommend it. The tour itself is just OK. You walk to the end of the parking lot and see their 1 acre of vines. It's informative, just not the large presentation you may expect. Then...More

First let me say I am a wine club member but NEVER go on the weekends here! Everybody is more important than a member and they cater to so many wine tour buses that they do not have time to do anything. I spent 2...More

We visited several wineries along 290. Messina Hof had a friendly staff and top notch wines. I would go back to Fredericksburg just to go to Messina Hof.

We spent the weekend in Fredericksburg and stopped at two wineries on the way out of town. Messina Hof Hill Country was our first stop and it was very enjoyable. We did the "tasting" in which we sampled five different wines from over 30 selections...More

We arrived and were promptly scolded by the young man at the bar for not "checking in" at the cash register. We were each given 5 tokens for $10, which seemed fair. The bars were overcrowded and they did not have enough staff pouring on...More

First, to visit wineries in the Texas Hill Country is a lot of fun. You can bring your own food to most of them and have your own picnic while enjoying some peacefulness with a bottle of wine. A lot of the tasting rooms from...More

We enjoyed this wine tasting very much. $10 per wine tasting and you get to keep the glass! J.R. was very knowledgeable - he really knew his wines and he is a local so could answer a lot of questions for us! Would recommend stopping...More
