The seawall is AWESOME. a bit noisy during the summer -- but the beach, rolling waves and 'just being there' makes it all worth it! and to see the ocean vessels coming into port is always a treat!

Galveston has truly done a wonderful job cleaning and improving the entire beach area! Quite an improvement over previous experience..enjoyed the lack of commercialization..take a tent!

First went at night when getting into town. Checked out shops, saw fireworks Sunday night, checked out Pleasure Pier. Went for day at the beach, rented umbrella and 2 chairs $30...good deal, still got sunburnt. Lots of fun crashing waves with the kids, fun shops...More

For many years, my family loved Galveston. It had been a few years since our last visit and we were sort of surprised. You pay to park anywhere and everywhere. We still enjoyed our visit but feel it is losing some of it’s family appeal.

We heard tales of blue water at the beach 2 weeks before we arrived... I'm not buying it! I'd simply have to see that to believe it. The water was a beautiful shade of brown for us, as has always been the case on our...More

At first glance, it does not seem like the cleanest and most appealing of water or sand but it is every bit as fun and relaxing and has more visible, friendly marine life than most. The waves are awesome, and an adequate presence of life...More

It's not everyday you get to walk along an iconic engineering marvel that was built in response to one of the greatest natural disasters ever, and is still functionally protecting the city today.

Recent wind changes cleared up the gulf waters along the Seawall from the usually yucky mess to nearly clear waters while we were there. A beautiful change from the mucky shipping waters you should dare get in. Great long area to walk, ride a bike,...More

The Seawall is eleven miles long and has metered parking all along. If you just want a walk on the beach you can park pretty much anywhere (hot tip: there are steps at intervals. Park near the steps if you’re going to the... More

Yes it is a good beach for families. With a very gradual decline, most of the time the water is shallow a good distance from the beach. Yes you can bring your own umbrellas and chairs.
