As a texan there is no such thing as "winter" but we did experience the craziest fog ever while we were here. But that didn't stop us the beach was still enjoyable to walk on and search for seashells. There was weird walking on the...More

My husband and I stayed at a hotel across from the seawall. We loved walking along the beach on the seawall and also on the beach to see the paintings on the seawall. Very cool. The weather was bad while we were there, very foggy...More

Long walks on the beach, shell collecting, watching waves. Beach was clean and watch the sunrise was magical.

The sea wall is so unpretentious. People walk or bicycle. They look at the water. They look at the beach. They look at the drop to the rocks...no railing. The businesses are on the other side of the road. Walking on the sea wall isn't...More

The sunrise was beautiful but the beach leaves much to be desired, the day before there was bad weather

Always a treat, of course. With January being our visit, we had a little sun, a little overcast, and a little fog.

Our family of four spent mist of our 3 days in Galveston on the sea wall beach front. It was a time for walking, thinking, clearing our winter brains of all unwanted thoughts and worries. Watching the dogs and their humans was a great past...More

Catch the weather right, find a parking spot and take a few hours walk on the Seawall. Please remember that handicap is free parking anywhere on the Island.

The Seawall is beautiful and great for walking. There is tons of restaurants and shopping along the Seawall. There is a ton of entertainment even for a brisk January evening.

I'm told it's the longest continuous sidewalk in the world. Just being near the water is great but, there are so many other things to do as well. Great places to eat. The Pleasure Pier is very exciting. This is Galveston's main attraction.

Yes it is a good beach for families. With a very gradual decline, most of the time the water is shallow a good distance from the beach. Yes you can bring your own umbrellas and chairs.

If you can see the lights of the pleasure pier you should have a pretty good view of the fireworks too
