Nice local park away from the city of Galveston, but the headquarters staff could hardly be bothered with helping visitors.

We have been camping here for 30 years. I could remember when the park was much larger pre Hurricane Rita. It's still a great Park if you can get in. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. There are three different sections of campgrounds along the beach and two on the Bayside. The bathrooms are clean. One thing I will... More

Galveston Island State Park is one of those rare gems in the park system. It has many amenities that Every age family member would like.

The state park is simply amazing. If love love nature, then here is your place! Birds, hiking trails, natural beaches, wild life (I actually got a photo of a dolphin while there). Lovely area there offers so much to do and see, even if you are on a limited budget.

We visited at the end of October the weather was still warm. The beach has a natural feel, natural debris. The bay side is where you can camp overnight. My trip was for the day only. 5 dollars person per day. I plan to visit again and camp overnight. I'd like to paddle a kayak on one of the Bayside... More

Four of us walked on the beach upon arrival Friday. We came back and walked the grass trails on the Bay side the next day. We saw many birds. We saw a Caracara for the first time perched up in a small dead tree.

We took our whole family w grandparents to this spot to play at the beach. It was about $20 for everybody but we were glad we did it. The beach wasn't crowded and we felt safe letting our kids run around. There is a nice little bathroom, shower and changing rooms next to shaded picnic tables which is an added... More

This is our second time to stay in the campgrounds here. You are a short walk just over the dunes to the beach from your campsite! There are clean restrooms, a nice, long uncrowded beach, and lots of plants and wildlife. The beach wasn't as clean as our first visit, and the stickers at the campsite were very annoying sticking...
